Fiddly to fit but sounding great once it was fitted. All parts for my T2 exhaust replacement arrived on time as promised as per usual which is great. I watched a really useful you tube vid of a chap replacing the muffler on a 1973 beetle in the US in preparation for fitting mine. Well worth a watch before fitting a new one to your bus. One tip on the you tube vid is to heat the mounting studs with a blow torch where the muffler attaches to the engine block before you try to undo the nuts. Mine looked quite rusty so with fire extinguisher close at hand I heated the nuts before releasing them and they all twisted off quite easily. Fitting the muffler was fiddly and lining the heat risers up had me scratching my head for quite some time! In the end I loosened every thing off and then used a bottle Jack horizontal against the sub frame to gently move the heat riser into position above the holes in the muffler before putting the bolts through. With everything tightened up and back in place my bus sounds great but it did take me all day to complete.

Not bad with a bit of persuasionGenerally the silencer is good, and reasonably priced compared to some other shops, I did however have a bit of trouble with the right hand carb pre-heater pipe not quite lining up.
With a bit of persuasion from a long screwdriver I managed to pull in the pre-heat pipe to line up with the exhaust.
The van is nice and quiet and no overheating now!Posted on

Fiddly to fitWhen unpacked, the exhaust box looked great with a sturdy construction and an excellent grey paint finish ( after sticky labels had been removed) to replace my rusty old one. Once the old box was removed ( not easy as all the bolts were seized) - I found that the manifold ends did not match the spacing of the exhaust ports on my engine - surely that is standard on them all? So the pipes had to be jacked gently apart to increase the spacing to make it fit - what a fiddly job that was! A perfect fit from the box would have been nice and saved a couple of hours labour - hence only 4 stars!
