VW Split Screen Bus VW Split screen camper van 1963 left hand drive in TURKIS green/Cream

Manufactured in Western Germany and went straight out to the USA.
Imported from USA in 2009. We purchased it in 2010 & V5 is in my name.


In 2010 the following work was completed. I have receipts for everything as proof.

*Additional work carried out since 2010

Engine. (1600 twin port)
*New cylinder heads, barrels & pistons + rings 5K miles ago approx. (suitable for unleaded fuel).
New heat exchangers.
*New single 34 ict carb with choke + new air filter. 1K miles ago.
All engine gaskets replaced.
*Plugs/ leads/ oil replaced 1K miles ago.
Voltage regulator.
Facett electric fuel pump & filter.
Oil temp gauge in cab. (sump mounted temp sensor)
Correct amount of end float to crank.
Sports exhaust fitted and wrapped with Titanium lava rock.
Sender unit in fuel tank.
Auxiliary fuel tap.

Transmission.
Straight axle box fitted. (came with bus)
Replacement gear linkage plastic bushes.

Body work.
Inner and outer sills both sides, cab floor, front arches, front clip, front lower valance. Cargo door inner frame bottoms. New replacement rear valance. New rear slash cut bumper, front bumper still original.
The underneath was fully bare metalled and treated with zinc oxide paint, several layers of chassis paint and finished off with wax oil. The chassis is 100% original and needed no work.
Full cavity wax oil.
Deluxe belt line trim fitted.


Locks
Church key rear engine lid & fuel cap door, correct ice pick handles, all locks have keys.

Wheels.
Rostyle Alloy wheels shod in Yokohama rubber. 1x full size spare wheel with brand new tyre.

Braking system.
Upgraded to dual circuit, all new copper brake pipes and flexible hoses, new brake shoes/ drums and wheel cylinders. (wide 5)
Hand brake cable.

Steering.
New steering centre pin bronze bush & steering damper, ball joints, wheel bearings, ZF steering box oil changed.

Suspension.
Mildly lowered with dropped spindles front and down 1 spline on rear with straight axle gear box fitted.
The front king pins were flipped by Transporter Haus.
KYB GR2 shocks are fitted all round.

Electrical.
New12 Volt wiring loom.
*New battery fitted June 2022.
Front & rear lights converted to make MOT /UK legal.
New starter motor.
Hot start relay.
12V power socket fitted in front & rear of bus.
12V armature fitted in wiper motor.
Toad, Cat 1, Thatcham approved alarm / immobiliser (with anti tilt sensor, microwave sensor)
Kenwood head set (mounted under parcel shelf) with front door mounted tweeters / mid & rear mounted subs 6 x 8`s.
Electric site hook up with 20m artic flex yellow cable. (plus European plug adaptor for site hook up)
Consumer unit + 1x 2g socket outlet inside bus.

Interior.
Storage cabinets fitted, has 2 burner hob with grill, gas bottle/ water storage. Rock and roll double bed with additional storage underneath. Mad mats vinal flooring.
Fully sound proofed and insulation fitted inside. Thermal blackout curtains with foil liners which have magnets to hold them up. (Total black out)
2x 3 point safety belts fitted up front, 2x lap safety belts fitted to rear.

We have really enjoyed the van over the years and it has never failed to get lots of attention and compliments where ever we go in it. The restoration really has stood the test of time very well. No signs of rust or rot anywhere. We have covered around 12,000 miles since the bus was rebuilt without any faults. I have total confidence in the bus having travelled to France, Belgium & Holland in this bus twice, clocking up 1600miles each trip. I am sure that I have missed loads of stuff off the list. As with any vehicle of this age the odd scratch / chip has been touched up. I have spare paint of each colour for touch up. The rhs cargo door hinge pin could do with replacing in the near future. (I might even have the hinge pins somewhere if not it`s a £10 fix). The front tyres are ok but will need replacing in about 6K miles. I have tried to be as honest as possible because I know how disappointed I have been when turning up to view vehicles which are not as described.

This is a solid, very clean, well presented bus. This would make a good investment
