There are a number of signs that your condenser is failing and these could include static on your car radio when the engine is running, but not when it’s idle; trouble at start-up due to damaged contact points caused by excessive sparking; and a backfiring or misfiring engine.
Fits standard distributors on VW Beetles and VW T2s from 1970 to 1972. It has a round ‘bung’ shape with two flats that fit through a hole in the side of the distributor. Please check suitability before ordering. Its purpose in a coil ignition circuit is to reduce the spark at the contact points as they open – minimising burning and pitting of the points and so extending their lives.
