Its purpose in a coil ignition circuit is to reduce the spark at the contact points as they open – minimising burning and pitting of the points and so extending their lives. There are a number of signs that your condenser is failing and these could include static on your car radio when the engine is running, but not when it’s idle; trouble at start-up due to damaged contact points caused by excessive sparking; and a backfiring or misfiring engine.
Quality Bosch product. Fits standard distributors on VW Beetles from 1964 to 1970, VW Split Screens from 1964 to 1967, and VW T2 Bays from 1964 to 1971. Also fits 1200cc engines up to 1974. Features a round ‘bung’ shape and fits through the base of the distributor. Please check suitability before ordering.
