  • good parts

Replaced all 4 (original!!) ball joints on 1975 T2. Worst part was getting the old ones out! Steering transformed

  • Difficult to fit but sorted the steering problem.

Spotted that the rubber boot was split when fitting the front shockers and decided that if the boot was gone then the joint probably had dirt in it and therefore wear. I decided that I couldn't fit this part myself - it needs a large press to do it - so the local garage fitted it for me. It took them some time too - leaving old one to soak overnight in releasing fluid before their press could remove it due to corrosion - probably the original 40 year old part they said. New one now in place - and what a difference it has made to the handling . I thought that the play in the steering was down to the steering box - but no it was the ball joint - it drives straight at last - now probably need to change the other side too.
