The Volkswagen Owners Club of Great Britain was formed in 1953 by a group of Volkswagen enthusiasts in the London area. In its formative years, the Club drew its members from the South of England but as Volkswagen ownership spread, groups were formed in the Midlands, Wales, Lancashire and the South West to name but a few. By the late fifties, the Club was already the largest Volkswagen Club in Great Britain and still ranks amongst the largest today. The Volkswagen Owners Club of Great Britain is totally independent, being organised by enthusiasts for enthusiasts.
