The Mill Garage was started by the Horne family in 1974. Set up by Jimmy Horne, a mechanic by trade, when he purchased a bit of land in Duns, Berwickshire. Starting off with an old wooden shed in the corner Jimmy built the business on a reputation for honesty, affordability and excellent workmanship.
Jimmy was joined in the mid-80s by both his sons making this truly a family business. The business continued to go from strength to strength with both sons now taking over the reins, one son concentrating on the bodyshop side of the business and the other as a mechanic. In the late 90’s Jimmy noticed the growth in campervans and a gap in the market. He subsequently hired a local craftsman to custom build campervans.
For over 20 years, this part of the business has created bespoke conversions for many happy customers. Many of them are returning for van number 2 or even van number 3 as we continue to offer a bespoke service tailored to our customers’ needs.

Class 4 and 7 MOT
Included in our MOT tests are checks to body and structure, fuel and exhaust, brakes, tyres and wheels, lights, steering and suspension and all doors and windows.
Full Engine Service
Does your vehicle need a service? It is recommended that you get your vehicle serviced every 12,000 miles or 12 months. This allows our expert mechanics to inspect your engine, covering essentials from oil and filter changes to suspension and brake checks, keeping you safely on the road.
Complete diagnostic test
We can carry out a complete diagnostic test on most models so we can detect, diagnose and fix most vehicle issues.

We do full bodywork restoration on all types of vehicles and with our on site colour mixing facility, we will get the colour looking as pristine as the day the vehicle came off the production line.
Full or part campervan conversions
All conversions are built on-site and are specific to our customers’ vehicles and their needs. Customers can come on-site at any time and see their conversion in progress.
