If you’re looking for intuitive, automatic central heating for your campervan, then the Propex HS2000E Blown Air Heater is the ideal unit for your vehicle. This automatic, thermostatically controlled blown air heating system fuelled by propane/butane gas or 230V mains electric, works to ensure you’re always warm, day or night.

One key benefit is that the setup allows for much greater versatility between the two power sources, helping to conserve your gas supply when on sites with electricity available.

Please be aware these heaters are rated for use with 30mb butane and 30/37mb propane. This is widely accepted across Europe, though some European countries also use 50mb gas pressure. These are not suitable for use in the USA.

As standard, the HS2000E is supplied with a solid-state electronic thermostat which automatically switches the unit on and off. This means it’s effortless to maintain the desired temperature in your camper, no matter the time of day.

If the temperature reaches below the set level, the Heatsource will automatically ignite and run until the cabin reaches the desired temperature. The thermostat’s easy-to-install surface mount design effortlessly integrates with the new electronics fitted to the HS2000E heaters. Its simple, intuitive controls mean it’s easy to switch between the gas and electric modes, and its constant heater feedback loop enables quick and easy system diagnosis.

Fortunately, it also has selectable electric hook-up power levels to ensure you do not overload your available supply.

For optimal gas efficiency, the unit makes use of forced air combustion and the Propex two-stage stainless steel heat exchanger for a clean and efficient way to heat your camper. The air for the combustion is taken from outside of your vehicle and passed into the combustion chamber. Having been mixed with gas during three aeration stages, it is ignited automatically and heats up the large surface area of the heat exchanger.

The Heatsource HS2000E heater units are totally room sealed and exhaust all products of combustion externally through the neat 22mm i.d. stainless steel flue pipe. Making it even more efficient, cabin air is normally re-circulated in preference to using cold air from outside.

The HS series heaters are very efficient on 12-volt electrical consumption, drawing less than 1.7 amps on the gas operation or 2.2 amps during mains operation. When it comes to mains electrics efficiency, for those using a mains hook-up, there is the option of using the powerful electric element with an efficient heat exchanger built in.

Three settings are available, giving 500W, 1KW or 2KW of heat output and drawing a maximum current of 9 amps. The motor speed is altered to suit each power level, ensuring maximum efficiency or, when on a low 500W setting, keeping motor and air noise to a minimum when running overnight.

The heater is supplied with a mains cable and moulded 3-pin plug.

Propex heaters are designed to be quiet in operation without compromising air throughput and heat output. There will always be some air noise from a system that produces a healthy throughput of air, however, by using high-quality balanced fans and smooth enclosed motors with ball race bearings, noise is significantly reduced.

Noise from the heater is also unaffected by high voltage, a common occurrence with battery chargers, solar panels etc that are permanently wired. The microprocessor electronics regulates the motor voltage so that the fan speed does not alter between 10 and 15 volts.

Heatsource blown air heaters conform to the latest European standards for both the appliance and the electronics.

During the rigorous testing, the focus is very much on safety. The heaters also have to comply with an enhanced version of the Electro-Mechanical Compatibility Directive, to ensure they do not interfere with other electronics.

Thanks to its intelligent electronics, the unit continuously monitors the operation of the heater to make sure everything is operating correctly and safely. This includes monitoring the flame, case temperature, combustion airflow, gas solenoid valve and voltage.

Should any of these move outside of the predetermined levels, the heater will immediately be switched off and the red light on the thermostat will indicate a fault by flashing a certain number of times.

The HS2000E blown air heater is supplied with complete fitting kits to suit vehicle use. In vehicles, the unit is usually subtly mounted in a bed box or cupboard, flued downwards through the floor and out to the side of the camper using flexible stainless ducting.

These ducts (22mm internal diameter) are supplied as standard in lengths of 750mm. The ends are finished with neat stainless steel end caps which comply with EN624. The heat is ducted to one or more outlets through the tough, highly flexible 60mm ducting. In the case of multi-outlet installations, the first outlet is an open outlet with directional control and the rest are closable, used in conjunction with the appropriately sized plastic Y branches.

The information below indicates the consumption of gas if the HS2000E heater is running continuously.
