Government regulations specify that the sound from your vehicle’s horn should be ‘continuous, uniform and not strident’ - if it was fitted to a vehicle first used on or after 1 August 1973. For vehicles manufactured before that date there should be no problem. If your vehicle is after that date, be aware that there is the possibility that some may take exception to the use of this device. For some, the sound is music to their ears, recalling the golden age of motoring, while for others it might be too ‘strident’ (defined as a harsh, insistent and discordant sound) - and may even scare the horses!
