  • Solid towbar

Great solid towbar. I've been looking for a towbar for a while and none of them say they will fit with an aftermarket exhaust system due to the crossmember fouling on the silencer box. As I have the Just Kampers stailnless 4 into 1 system I was a little concerned about clearance issues but there looked I be enough room as the silencer box sits at an angle and not flat leaving more room below the rear valance. This towbar fits with plenty of room (probably 1 1/2"-1 3/4" gap between the crossmember and the silencer box). And if you buy the bundle kit everything (except a flasher relay/buzzer) is included. The only issue I had was with the mounting holes that attach the towbar to the bumper mounts, they all seemed to be nearly half a hole off, this may be due to the valance mounting bracket being slightly too far forward and stopping the towbar sliding far enough forward to line up the holes correctly. This was easily overcome by filing the holes slightly.

  • Solid Kit But Be Prepared.

I found the cost of this kit very reasonable compared to paying a company to fit a tow bar. The steps in fitting this are pretty straight forward. Take off your rear bumper and mount the tow bar frame to the same place the bumper is mounted. Then mount on the bumper and so on. However, be prepared for this job to take longer than the 1.5 hours it suggests as I found that the holes required to mount the tow bar main beam didn't line up with bolt holes on my van. The entire beam was around 1 cm off. I managed to file down the holes on the tow bar beam so it gave me just enough clearance to get the bolts up into the van. I wouldn't say my van is in bad condition underneath or shows any sign of crash damage so I was surprised to find the tow bar didn't line up correctly. That said its a 40 year old van and these things are never really that straight forward. If your a competent DIY mechanic, fitting this shouldn't provide you with any major problems.
