Please note: You will need to have roof bars installed to your vehicle in order to install the TentBox Classic. In addition, the roof bars must have a loading capacity that allows for at least 65 kg of weight.

Roof bars, in general will be able to hold up to 4 times the amount of weight that they are rated to, when the vehicle is stationery, which would include when the TentBox is operational. This is because roof bars are built to provide support for a set mass, whilst also accounting for support needed when that mass is subject to other stresses, such as acceleration force and high wind speed.

So when your TentBox is in use, and therefore your vehicle is still, a roof rack rated to support the weight of the TentBox should be robust enough to support the weight of two additional people and a couple of dogs.

Compact and spacious

The Lite Tentbox, is perfect if you need a little extra space in your vehicle; move the bedroom to upstairs!

This TentBox is the most like your average tent. The TentBox does not have a solid roof once it’s in use, instead the unit unfolds and extends the floor space. As you do so, the tent unfolds on top, a little like a pop-up book.

You lever the top of the unit from the vehicle by slightly extending the ladder and pushing it toward the floor. As you start to unfold the unit, you bring the ladder towards yourself and walk backwards. Once the two aluminium floors are level, adjust the ladder to support the weight. In 3 minutes, you’re done!

Once the ladder is in place, you can unzip the door and climb inside. From there you can prop open your door flaps, mosquito nets and rain protectors. The TentBox Lite is the longest in the range, making it super spacious and great for people who want more room as they sleep.

The TentBox is perfect for sleeping, or just daytime relaxing and soaking up the surroundings. You can really enjoy the summer in a TentBox, it has every situation covered and you can enjoy the great outdoors from the comfort of your own private area.

When you’re ready to head home, simply fold it back up and it will stay flat to your roof bars. It’s light weight and low profile, so the TentBox won’t slow you down while you’re on the move. The TentBox can stay there ready for when it’s needed; ready for you to use on any adventure! Or alternatively, you can remove it from the vehicle very easily, when it’s not needed.

What is included?

You will get a comfy, 6 cm thick foam mattress which will support you for a great night’s sleep.

There’s also an extendable ladder, so getting into the TentBox classic is super easy.

Plus, you’ll get yourself a fixing kit with the TentBox to install your new gadget straight away.

What about the technical stuff, how weatherproof is it?

The TentBox is made from 280 gsm high quality rip stop canvas, this canvas is coated with a Poly-Urethane coating which provides waterproofing up to a 2000 mm Hydrostatic Head. The TentBox is made with tough and resistant material to deal with various weather conditions and does so while not being too heavy on your roof.

280 GSM Rip Stop: Rip stop material is specially formulated to be strong. The composition of the fibres is unique and their purpose is to prevent tears and rips; if one occurs it shouldn’t continue or ladder. The 280 GSM refers to the materials grams per square metre, so one square metre cutting of this canvas would weigh 280 grams. Most canvas used in camping equipment has a GSM rating of up to 400, but weight doesn’t mean quality. The TentBox is designed to be both durable and weatherproof, but at a lower weight.

PU Coating: This is a Poly Urethane coating, used to provide a resistance to water and weather. PU has hydrophobic qualities and this prevents the movement of water from outside the tent, to the inside of the tent, effectively making it waterproof.

Hydrostatic Head of 2000 mm: The level of waterproofing can be measured and rated; this is what we call a fabric’s Hydrostatic Head (HH). This is a measure of how much water a material can resist before it starts to allow water through. The TentBox’s canvas has the capacity to hold a column of water 2000 mm high (or 200 cm high) pressed down onto the material before it would give way and let in water.

The TentBox Lite is also fitted with 600 denier polyester rain hoods above windows, to provide more effective weather protection. This means the TentBox is an incredibly capable product to hold up against the classic Great British weather.

What’s the shell/container made from?

The TentBox Lite G2 comes with a durable PVC cover to protect your sleeping area when it’s folded away. The fold up floor is made from aluminium to keep its weight low without compromising strength. As you fold it back up, the aluminium floors keep all the fabric parts safe and protect them from damage. These ratchet down and the TentBox is then protected with the PVC cover.

How comfy is it?

The 6 cm thick foam supporting mattress measures 240 cm by 140 cm, which means is that the mattress completely covers the interior floor within the TentBox. There’s not even an inch of the floor surface that isn’t covered with foam, so you can sleep soundly through the night, no matter what!

Is it easy to use?

Once installed using the fixing kit provided, there are just a few steps.

Step 1: Undo the straps which hold the PVC cover tight to the TentBox, and pull off to stow away.

Step 2: Undo the tensioning straps that secure the aluminium floors together. Then extend the ladder towards yourself until it hangs off the side. Slowly apply pressure to the feet of the ladder to lever the TentBox open.

Step 3: As the unit opens, slowly walk backwards, whilst using the ladder to control the movement. Once the aluminium floor reaches level with the adjoining floor, brace it securely with the ladder. Extend the ladder more if you think it’s necessary; the ladder shouldn’t be completely upright, it should be at a slight angle to the floor.

Step 4: Climb in!

Step 5: Brace your door flaps, or roll them up; bug nets down, or nets up! The freedom is now yours to layout and decorate your TentBox interior as you wish! Maybe even jazz up the ceiling with some battery powered LED lights.
