Please note: You will need to have roof bars installed to your vehicle in order to install the TentBox Classic. In addition, the roof bars must have a loading capacity that allows for at least 65 kg of weight.

Roof bars, in general will be able to hold up to 4 times the amount of weight that they are rated to, when the vehicle is stationery, which would include when the TentBox is operational. This is because roof bars are built to provide support for a set mass, whilst also accounting for support needed when that mass is subject to other stresses, such as acceleration force and high wind speed.

So when your TentBox is in use, and therefore your vehicle is still, a roof rack rated to support the weight of the TentBox should be robust enough to support the weight of two additional people and a couple of dogs.

The Classic TentBox is perfect if you need a little extra space in your vehicle; move the bedroom upstairs!

The TentBox is literally box shaped, which means you have plenty of room within the living compartment, once it’s popped up. The walls go straight up and the ceiling isn’t angled, which means you have a great quality living pod; once popped up you can you use the TentBox for sleeping, or just daytime relaxing and soaking up the surroundings. Relaxing in the summertime is a breeze, as you can enjoy the fresh air thanks to is flap out window and door. The openings to the pod feature mosquito nets to keep those pesky insects out!

The product is designed so that you can simply pop up the tent in moments. Park and pop it up, it’s as simple as that! You don’t need to faff with pitching tents, pitching awnings, or blowing up air beams, if all you need is your bedroom set up then this is the perfect solution for you.

When you’re ready to head home, simply pop it back down and it will stay pretty much flat to your roof bars. It’s light weight and low profile, so the TentBox won’t slow you down while you’re on the move. Much like a roof rack storage container, the TentBox can just stay there ready for when it’s needed; ready for you to use on any adventure! Or alternatively, you can remove it from the vehicle very easily, when it’s not needed.

What is included?

You will get a comfy, 6 cm thick foam mattress which will support you for a great night’s sleep.

There’s also an extendable ladder, so getting into the TentBox classic is super easy.

Plus, you’ll get yourself a fixing kit with the TentBox to install your new gadget straight away.

What about the technical stuff, how weatherproof is it?

The TentBox is made from 280 gsm high quality rip stop canvas, this canvas is coated with a Poly Urethane coating which provides waterproofing up to a 2000 mm Hydrostatic Head. What this means is that the TentBox offers a tough and resistant material to deal with various weather conditions and does so while not being too heavy on your roof.

280 GSM Rip Stop: Rip stop material is specially formulated to be strong. The composition of the fibres is unique in that their purpose is to effectively prevent tears and rips, and if one occurs it shouldn’t continue or ladder. The 280 GSM refers to the materials grams per square metre, so one square metre cutting of this canvas would weigh 280 grams. Most canvas used in camping equipment has a GSM rating of up to 400, but weight doesn’t exactly mean quality. The TentBox is designed to be both durable and weatherproof, but at a lower weight.

PU Coating: This is a Polyurethane coating, used to provide a resistance to water and weather. PU has hydrophobic qualities and this prevents the movement of water from outside the tent, to the inside of the tent, effectively making it waterproof.

Hydrostatic Head of 2000 mm: The level of waterproofing can be measured and rated; this is what we call a fabric’s Hydrostatic Head (HH). This is a measure of how much water a material can resist before it starts to allow water through. The TentBox’s canvas has the capacity to hold a column of water 2000 mm high (or 200 cm high) pressed down onto the material before it would give way and let in water.

This means the TentBox is an incredibly capable product to hold up against the classic Great British weather.

What’s the shell/container made from?

The shell of the TentBox is made from a hardwearing ABS Plastic. ABS is incredibly strong and resistant to lots of wear and damage. It’s resistant to water, chemical corrosion, has a very high heat resistance. All this makes for a robust shell that will protect your TentBox for years to come.

The shell is also streamlined and has been designed to complement your vehicles aerodynamics as you drive; you don’t want some big clunky box stored on top of your roof as you head off on your camping adventure.

How comfy is it?

The 6 cm thick foam supporting mattress measures 210 cm by 125 cm, which means is that the mattress completely covers the interior floor within the TentBox. There’s not even an inch of the floor surface that isn’t covered with foam, so you can sleep soundly through the night, no matter what!

Is it easy to use?

Super easy and super quick to use. Simply pop up and done! Once installed using the fixing kit provided, there are just a few steps.

Step 1: Undo the ratchet straps that are located around the edge of the TentBox. These are what keep the unit compact and secured whilst it’s not in use.

Step 2: Begin to carefully and without too much force, lift the rear side of the lid upwards, the follow on by doing the same to the front side. As you slowly push the ceiling upwards, the struts inside the walls will aid you with gas assisted opening.

Step 3: Once the box walls have been fully extended, retrieve the lightweight collapsible ladder from the inside of the tent. The can be stowed here, when you’re not using it. Then pick which side you’d like to enter your bedroom from, line the ladder up to the entrance, and securely rest it on the edge of your roof rack.

Step 4: Climb in!

Step 5: Brace your door flaps, or roll them up; bug nets down, or nets up! The freedom is now yours to layout and decorate your TentBox interior as you wish! Maybe even jazz up the ceiling with some battery powered LED lights.
