Outwell footprint groundsheet for Beachcrest Drive-away awning

The Outwell Beachcrest footprint is made from a durable dual-coated polyethylene. This strong material is lightweight and very thin so is easy to compact via folding as you pack it away. The twice coated material should lay between the underside of the awning and the ground surface. The footprint should be the first thing that you lay down as you pitch your setup. Not only does the base act as a barrier of protection against the elements but it also helps to protect you from getting dirty as you set your awning up, just in case the Great-British weather displays its unpredictable reputation.

When laid out on the ground the footprint will measure approximately 230 cm long by 230 cm wide. When packed up the groundsheet is easily carried alongside the rest of your camping gear, it only weighs only 2 kg. The footprint will protect your awning and your awning groundsheet from abrasion and further damage. The footprint should be entirely covered by the awning to prevent any water or moisture from collecting between the two.

How will the footprint protect me and my awning from the elements?

This footprint is another step towards a dry awning floor. This layer of protection has been given a HH rating of 10,000 mm. A HH refers to a materials Hydrostatic Head, this is effectively a measure of how much water a material can withstand before it begins to let water through due to the weight and pressure. A fabric’s Hydrostatic Head (HH) is a measure of how much water it can resist before it starts to allow water through. The type of fabric used, and what it has been treated with, will both affect it’s HH value. It’s usually written in millimetres. So in this instance, a rating of 10,000 means that this material can withstand a column of water up to 10,000 mm (or 1000 cm, or 10 metres) high pressing down on it before it would start to let in water. An extremely unlikely scenario however it is nice to know that you are well protected! Overall, the Outwell Beachcrest footprint is an incredibly smart choice for the camper who may own one of these awnings and would like to prolong its life!
