Description

If you need a new engine and you want the ultimate peace of mind, our range of 'New' engines are just what you are looking for.

We so confident in the quality, they all come with a 12 month, unlimited mileage warranty.

Our 1641cc engines comes with bigger pistons and barrels, which give you a noticeable improvement in performance over a regular 1600cc engine for not much more money.

We do reuse some original VW parts, as you'll see from the specification below. This is not a cost cutting exercise, in some cases the original parts are better than the new parts available, it's a simple as that. And we do try to do our bit for the environment, so throwing away a quality useable part to replace it with something inferior, is in our opinion, a pointless waste of natural resources. All reused original parts are thoroughly tested and checked to be well within manufacturers tolerances. We wouldn't use them if they weren't right.

You should retain the packaging in which your engine arrives and, once you have fitted the unit, use this same packaging to return the old part to us. You will need to return the old unit to us within two months and we will collect it from you on your instruction. Once returned, the unit is checked to ensure that it is complete and suitable for reconditioning before your full deposit can be refunded to your credit or debit card.

To make the return of your old unit as easy as possible follow these simple guidelines:
Place your old unit in the packaging provided and repack in exactly the same way as your new product arrived. Disassembled units are not acceptable.
Ring JK Sales on 0845 121 5656 or email and they will arrange collection. Please quote the invoice number.

  • Excellent product

The engine fits well, the only issue is that the Autolimea castings have a smoother and slightly bulkier outer profile than the stock VW castings.
The breast piece tinware behind then
    pulley needed trimming and bending.
The right hand side tinware needed trimming by against the rear of the engine fixing flange, and the fan housing needed a little trim on the centre line of the engine.

The only annoyance is that the inside diameter of the aluminium dipstick tube is narrower than the steel original. My stock dipstick grabbed the tube and pulled it out. So I flattened out the dipstick and cleaned and glued the dipstick tube in wher it meets the engine case with some JB weld.

I decided to fit a new engine after suffering an engine failure on a Friday morning. I ordered this emgine new on Friday and it arrived on Monday.

Now running in the camper van, 30 miles running in completed so far.

  • Still good : Follow-up after one year and 9700 miles

I have been running the engine mostly on a daily 30 mile round trip with occasional longer trips over the last 12 months, starting the year and finishing off with a round trip from Southampton to Techenders in Leicestershire.

Over the first 5000 miles, as the running in process completed, the engine continued to improve.
It provides good low end torque compared with my old 1641, and runs happily at 65mph on the level.

I did fit it with my previous full flow filter and additional external oil cooler system, as it seemed a shame to not use it and it was already fitted to the bus, just requiring swapping the oil pump for a CB Maxi 3. That was when I found that the stud holes in the new case are shallower than the original, requiring shortening the bolts from the Maxi 3 oil pump kit to make it fit.

Even so, it is still definitely cooler running than my old engines, the EMPI heads seem a lot better at cooling, CHTs at the temperature sender bosses seem cooler, and the oil temperature is 5-10degress C cooler at the same sort of speeds.

Oil use has been fairly low,odd topups between oil changes seem to show less than 0.5 litres per thousand miles, but its hard to tell exactly, sometimes its more sometimes less.
The only issue has been a slight oil drip from what looks like the crank seal, but it is not serious, as is shown by the oil usage.

Overall it has been a strange experience in running a T2 without constantly expecting something to go wrong with the engine.

Still very pleased with my purchase.
