1982 Volkswagen T25 2.0 Air Cooled Westfalia Joker, located in Cornwall, UK
Back in Summer 2024 we advertised our lovely camper for a probably optimistic £35k. We'd previously had offers in the low £30k's so felt it was about right. We had several offers in the mid £20k's (without viewing) but felt it wasn't enough and didn't pursue a sale. We're now offering the van again at a reduced price of £24,995 ono. The van has original paint, decals, interior, engine and gearbox etc. It’s never been welded or had a rust repair and has a perfect MOT history – it is undoubtedly one of the best original examples available anywhere in the world. Would love her to stay in the UK, but happy to help export her back home to Germany or the USA. Please find the full advert below...
We’re open to selling ‘Sunshine’, our gorgeous time warp 1982 T25 air cooled Westfalia Joker. We are only the second owners and have loved her for nearly 21 years. The first owner from new was a German doctor who used the van for 5 years or so before placing the van into storage when his wife passed away. We have the German documentation and history from new prior to our purchase at Vanfest, Malvern in September 2005. Since in our ownership the van has been maintained regardless of cost with all receipts kept as a record.
The van has been garaged from new and is totally rust free and unrestored with original paint, graphics/transfers, double glazed windows, canvas, engine, gearbox and clutch. The interior units, upholstery, flooring and carpet all look superb. It’s never been welded and the underside is totally solid. The van is now registered as ‘Historic’, but all previous MOTs support its wonderful condition.
Sunshine has covered just over 57k miles (under 93k kilometres) and drives, steers and brakes beautifully. Before we moved to Cornwall, we took her on a few trips in the UK, but since moving to Cornwall, other than the odd night away, we mostly use her as a day van on bright sunny and importantly dry days.
A few years ago, we sourced a pair of lovely ISRI front seats and had them trimmed in matching original fabric that we’d sourced at Vanfest a year after we purchased the van. It wasn’t a cheap project, but the ISRI seats look superb and fully feel part of the van. We still have the original unmarked seats too.
Most vans can look good in a photo from a distance, but I’ve added plenty of close-up images of the areas that normally corrode so you can get a feel for just how good this van is.
Price-wise, over the years we’ve spoken to various VW specialists about the value of the van and all have said it’s impossible to say. ‘Find me another’, or ‘It’s the best example we’ve ever seen’ is the usual response and ‘that it will appeal to someone who’s after one of the best available’. It would take very little work for the van to be concours.
We considered selling the van around five years ago but just couldn’t let her go. At the time we had several offers in excess of £30k with interest from Germany and USA. We’d prefer to keep her in the UK and hopefully see her from time to time at shows, but are not against exporting her – especially back home to Germany.
I think if we were to say goodbye to Sunshine, we’d be looking for offers in the region of £24,995 ono. We also have some great accessories available such as a genuine insulated Silverscreen, a VanCabin roof cover and a restored Westfalia tow bar which we are yet to fit!
Please feel free to message if you’re interested or would like more information or images.
