A CHERISHED 1973 WESTFALIA
This exceptional 1973 Volkswagen Westfalia camper, finished in classic Pastel White, was created as a genuine joint project with G’Day Kombis. Its extensive restoration was completed in 2015, and it remains every bit as impressive as the day it was finished—if not better. all photos on file of the complete tear down of what was a very original and solid UK delivered RHD Westfalia continental.

Since its restoration, the Westfalia has enjoyed a wonderfully gentle life. Its principal outing has been the owner’s annual two-week pilgrimage to France, after which it has always returned home to be safely stored in a private garage.

This careful pattern of use and storage goes a long way towards explaining its exceptional condition today. It has been enjoyed exactly as a Volkswagen camper should be, while remaining protected, properly maintained and continually improved throughout the rest of each year.

BARE-METAL RESTORATION
The restoration began with the body being completely stripped back to bare metal before receiving extensive welding and bodywork, followed by a full professional respray in Pastel White.

This was far more than a cosmetic restoration. Considerable attention was also given to its mechanical specification, resulting in a camper that is genuinely enjoyable to drive.

The underside has received a protective Waxoyl treatment, while extensive soundproofing was installed within the body panels to create a quieter and more refined travelling experience.

UPGRADED 1911CC ENGINE
Power comes from an upgraded and rebuilt 1911cc engine with twin carburettors. It is paired with a Cogbox-rebuilt gearbox featuring a Freeway Flyer-specification top gear, making the van particularly well suited to longer journeys and modern road speeds.

Its mechanical specification includes:

Rebuilt and upgraded 1911cc engine

Twin carburettors

Cogbox gearbox rebuild

Freeway Flyer-specification top gear

Vintage Speed stainless-steel exhaust system

Upgraded 123 electronic distributor

Professionally installed power-assisted steering

Lowered suspension

Gaz front and rear shock absorbers for improved handling and stability

Engine-bay fire-suppression system

Engine access hatch

Dashboard-mounted tachometer

Reversing sensors

MAJOR MECHANICAL WORK COMPLETED IN DECEMBER 2025
In December 2025, the engine was removed and stripped down. The top end was resealed, with all engine oil seals and oil-cooler seals replaced.

The fuel tank was also removed, and all associated rubber components were replaced with nitrile/butyl E10-resistant rubber.

All supporting invoices and receipts for this work are retained in the vehicle’s comprehensive history file.

WESTFALIA POP-TOP ROOF
The classic front-hinged Westfalia pop-top roof incorporates sleeping accommodation suitable for two smaller adults.

Its rear luggage section provides useful additional storage, making this Westfalia particularly practical for longer trips and European touring.

FULLY RETRIMMED INTERIOR
The interior was comprehensively retrimmed as part of the restoration. The cab seats, rear seating and bed, door cards and associated trim were all reupholstered, creating a comfortable and beautifully finished living space.

Madmatz carpeting has been fitted throughout the front cab, with practical laminate flooring in the rear. Extensive soundproofing throughout the body panels makes travelling considerably more refined.

The interior specification includes:

Fully reupholstered cab seats, rear seats and bed

Reupholstered door cards

Wood-rim steering wheel

Five new seatbelts

Madmatz cab carpeting

Laminate flooring in the rear

Leisure battery

Solar panel

Mains electrical hook-up

Built-in battery charger

CD and USB stereo with speakers

Subwoofer mounted behind the passenger seat

ORIGINAL WESTFALIA DETAILS
A great deal of care was taken to source desirable original Westfalia accessories. These were collected over a number of years and include the rear-window flyscreens and swivel table—authentic period details that add considerable character and are increasingly difficult to find.

EXTERIOR DETAILS AND SECURITY
The Pastel White paintwork is complemented by front fog lights and distinctive mag-slot alloy wheels.

Security is enhanced by a discreet tracking device.

COMPREHENSIVE HISTORY
The camper is accompanied by a comprehensive service history dating from the completion of its restoration in 2015, documenting the care, maintenance and continued investment it has received ever since.

Its annual visits to France demonstrate that it has remained a properly usable and dependable touring camper—not simply a vehicle kept for display.

The vehicle will be supplied with:

A new MOT

Six-month in-house warranty

Ongoing servicing, MOT and upgrade facilities

Support from a company specialising exclusively in air-cooled Volkswagens for over 21 years
