VW T4 California Westfalia – Turquoise – LHD – Project Camper
Sadly, the time has come to sell our much-loved VW T4 California Westfalia. It’s a proper Westfalia camper, left-hand drive, in a fantastic turquoise colour, and has given us lots of fun and happy adventures. Fully factory fitted.
It’s being sold as a project following a failed MOT. We had planned to get it sorted ourselves, but we’re currently renovating our house and simply can’t justify renovating the camper at the same time!
The good news is that it’s a good runner, and our garage has estimated approximately £700–£800 to address the MOT issues. For someone handy, or looking for a genuine Westfalia to bring back to its best, we think it could be a really rewarding project.
MOT defects
Dangerous defect – must not be driven until repaired:
Front brake pads less than 1.5mm thick.
Major defects:
Emissions test couldn't be completed due to excessive smoke levels
Driver's door cannot currently be opened from inside or outside
Corrosion to nearside front body panel
Corrosion to offside front inner wheel well/integral structure
Two rear seat belt buckles missing
Rear fog lamp not working
Both front tyres fouling part of the vehicle
Excessive engine oil leak
Parking brake efficiency below requirements
We want to be completely upfront about the work required, so there are no surprises. Please note that because of the dangerous MOT defect, the camper will need to be collected/recovered rather than driven away.
It’s definitely not a pristine camper, but it has loads of character and potential. Genuine California Westfalias are brilliant, practical campers, and this could be a great opportunity for someone who wants a T4 project they can put their own stamp on.
We’d much rather see it go to someone who will give it the attention it deserves than have it sitting around while all our spare time and money disappears into the house!
