Our much-loved 1972 VW Bay Window Camper has been part of our family for the last 22 years and has taken us on countless holidays and adventures.
Finished in its original orange and white colour scheme, this right-hand drive Bay has a 1600cc air-cooled engine and retains much of its original character. It features the original pop-top roof, original awning, electric hook-up and a professionally fitted Webasto diesel heater with a custom-made fuel tank discreetly installed in the engine bay, making it comfortable for camping throughout the year.
Inside, the camper offers a traditional wooden slatted double bed, three children's sling bunks, rear seat belts, spare curtains and matching cushion covers.. The unique hand-airbrushed gecko artwork on the side panel and driver's door gives it its own distinctive personality.
The camper has always been garaged during our ownership and presents very well for its age. This is an original, well-cared-for camper, not a fully restored show vehicle. It has age-related marks and wear, exactly what you would expect from a 53-year-old classic. There are a few areas of surface rust, the pop-top has some age-related marks.
This is a genuine, usable classic that has created wonderful memories over more than two decades and now deserves a new owner who will continue to enjoy and cherish it.
