Please read the full description carefully and only get in touch if you are genuinely interested. If the advert is still live the van is still for available so I won’t respond to “Is it still available?” messages.
Volkswagen Type 2 (T3) T25 panel van
1989 G-reg
1.9 DG Wasserboxer water-cooled, reconditioned, VEGE engine, fitted by SW Classic VWs in 2010
Rare 5-speed gearbox
Two original seats
Spare matching passenger bench seat included (currently not fitted)
16 years ownership
V5 present
Extensive paperwork
Unlike many surviving panel vans, this increasingly rare example has not been permanently converted or heavily modified. All internal fittings are removable, making it an ideal blank canvas for restoration, camper conversion, or commercial/promotional use.
The sought-after 5-speed box is a major advantage on modern roads offering more relaxed motorway cruising, lower revs at speed, improved fuel economy, and a quieter, more comfortable drive compared to standard 4-speed models.
This van was once my daily driver and has taken us on many memorable adventures. However, having moved house and no longer requiring daily transport, it has now been off the road for a couple of years and is being sold as a non-runner/project and will naturally need going through before returning to the road.
Condition:
No MOT, last test in 2023 (passed)
Exact mileage unknown as odo has stopped
Some rust in the usual T25 places
Full respray in 2015
Currently SORN
Will need to be trailered away
Unlike many projects, this remains a largely original and unspoilt example with plenty of potential. Parts alone are increasingly valuable but I would much rather see it restored and enjoyed as a useable classic.
Ideal basis for:
Classic restoration
Camper conversion
Promotional/business vehicle
Event van
Please understand that this is a 37-year-old project vehicle and not a drive-away camper.
I’ll be genuinely sad to see it go but it’s time for a new custodian to look after this classic piece of Volkswagen history.
