It’s a reluctant sale, but with a small family on the way, it’s time for our beloved Bluey to begin her next chapter.
1972 Volkswagen T2 Bay campervan with the original Westfalia fit-out, including the classic rock and roll bed and double gas burner cooker. She retains a huge amount of her original character, supported by a full service history — including the original sales receipt and Haynes manual. We are her fourth owners, and she’s been genuinely well cared for throughout.
She’s fitted with a 1776cc air cooled engine, paired with a 2-litre capacity gearbox, offering a really nice balance of usable power and classic VW driving feel. The van shows 76,000 miles on the clock, with a full engine and gearbox rebuild carried out at 55,000 miles, giving real confidence in her mechanical life ahead.
More recently, she’s had a new stainless steel exhaust fitted in 2024, along with a Dinitrol underbody treatment in 2022, and structurally she is in excellent condition underneath with no rust affecting integrity.
Like many vans of this era, there is some rust around the body edges, purely cosmetic and honest for her age. She would benefit from someone willing to tidy up the bodywork and bring her back to her full visual potential.
Inside, she’s been thoughtfully updated for comfort and usability:
- original westfalia fit out with updated upholstry, including stool
- Rock and roll bed - large
- Leather heated front captain seats
- Heated front and rear windscreens
- Poptop with small sleeping area above
- Awning included
- Double burner gas cooker
- 12V leisure battery
- Electric mains hook-up
- Propane heater in the rear
- Cool box for trips away
- Lots of storage
- Vehicle tracker system
- genuine 76,000 miles total since registration (with MOTs to prove)
- spare tyre and miscellaneous accessories also included
Registered as a campervan, and is MOT and ULEZ exempt.
Bluey starts quickly, runs beautifully and is ready to go — whether that’s weekends on the coast, longer trips, or simply being part of someone else’s story.
We truly care about where she ends up, so we’re looking for a good home — someone who’ll appreciate her character, look after her, and keep her moving.
