Here is my 1971 T2 Early Bay. or Crossover Camper. Converted from a bus for us in 2013 by O'Connor's Campers in Okehampton, Devon, who specialise in Westy roof conversions. The full kit, including gas hob, gas fridge, sink and power hook up.
In 2013, our son was 9 years old. We've had some great times and many fond camping memories, mainly in Devon, over those years. But that 9-year old is now 21 and 6'2" and too tall to sleep in it, even diagonally. So it has to go.
All the distinctive Crossover features are there - moon shaped engine vents, small rear lights and the low front side lights. It's largely original spec - nothing is pimped up, except the sound system - bluetooth, DAB, CD, good speakers.
Sleeps four - two in the roof, two on the Rock 'n' Roll bed.
Right hand drive - with sliding door on the left.
Over the last year, the bodywork has been restored by Ian and Ron at Mayflower Garage down in Battle, near Hastings, where the van is going through final checks. This has included restored or replaced rear panels, engine door, rear side panels and the front panel.
I've spent so much on it that it looks better now than at any time during the last twelve years and I am now reluctant to sell. The new front panel alone cost £1,000, just for the part. The bodywork is now amazing and it's mechanically sound. But go, it must.
The MOT will be the last thing, so it will be valid for a year when you buy it.
It's done about 2000 miles each year, mostly on the summer holidays to Devon. Mayflower Garage in Battle has always serviced and repaired it. Over that time, it's had numerous repairs, including replacement 1.6l engine and gearbox in 2015.
The interior is very good, but some things need tidying up, such as the curtains.
I have a full service and MOT history from 2013. Being 1971, it's a "historic vehicle" and exempt from road tax (VED) and the London ULEZ.
Viewing will be in Battle TN33.
I have dozens more photos - including of the most recent bodywork repairs. Please just ask.
