Rust Free / All original panels. 1978 Bay Window 2L - Texas import (LHD)

Absolutely beautiful, fully restored left hand drive Bay Window Camper, a real head turner. We have had “Belle” since 2011 when she was imported from Texas (dry state), and she has been fully restored and fitted out with a bespoke camper interior.
The body work is 100% all original panels and very straight, with ZERO welding ever having been needed, except for a new battery tray in 2011, which is not unusual. There is no rot in this bus at all, it is 100% solid, as can be seen in the pictures. All panels, gutters, arches, front panel (around screen) and underneath (see pictures) is 100% solid and original. So, all good solid heavy weight German steel, not thin and lightweight modern replacements.
She was resprayed in 2011, so there are no nasty surprises hidden under fresh paint.
She has a new 2L flat four engine that was fitted in 2012, the same as the original engine that was fitted as she was originally built for the US market, and the new engine has only done 15k miles since fitted, and is fully serviced every Spring, regardless of the annual milage.
The fuel set up is the original Bosch fuel injection, which all works as it did when it left the factory, and as any VW fan knows, if the Bosch fuel injection system is working as it should, it is one of the best fuel systems you can have. This all means she has a good level of pull, even up hill, and will cruise along at 70 mph with no problem, although I am more of a 65-mph man myself, as any 48-year-old vehicle should be treated with love and care.
Originally she was a hard sliding sunroof model, but this was removed meaning an original early bay pop top could be fitted, without having to cut the roof, as the original factory sunroof hole could be used.
The interior has a ¾ rock and roll bed that will sleep 2, a 2-gas burner cooker, sink with running cold water, and various storage. The interior was bespoke built, as we did not want an off the shelf interior, as we wanted an individual and unique camper.
There are various 12-volt sockets and charge points, run off a separate leisure battery with a split charging unit so you can not flatten the main battery while camping.
Belle only ventures out during the summer months and is always stored inside, and is washed (and polished) every time she is used.
She is not a concourse vehicle and does have the normal marks of use, as she is a bus that has been regularly used for family holidays and day trips and has created many family memories over the 14 years we have had here. But she is also a show wining VW, as a few years ago, just for fun we entered her in the Bus Fest (the biggest VW show in Europe) Show and Shine competition, and she won runner up, from an entry list of over 40 of the best buses in in the country. She really is a good-looking bus, but more importantly she is rot free, solid, and reliable.
Registered as a historic vehicle, so road tax exempt. Also, MOT exempt, although I still have her checked annually just for peace of mind.
We are only selling Belle as we are retiring soon and need a modern camper to be able to adventure and make memories all year round and further afield. When she goes (which will be heart breaking), I will be converting a new T7 with the same love and detail as I did with this T2.
