KATRINA 1973 VW type 2 Late Bay Camper Van

1973 Camper van, Historic vehicle, Tax, MOT & U.L.E.Z. exempt & low insurance classic car premiums
(1)26917 miles (KATRINA) Last MOT was February 2018 but since has become exempt.
Van bodywork was totally rebuilt, fully primer-ed, under-sealed & resprayed with brand new genuine VW 1584cc engine fitted at (1)12517 miles, so has only been driven 14,398 miles since then.
Barely off the drive since 2020 after repainting the exterior. The photo’s were taken a just after this but standing outside is starting to take it's toll and there's a few areas where the dreaded rust is starting to rear it's ugly head. I’ve highlighted the worst of this in the last photos.
As I’m highly unlikely to be in a position to drive her for the foreseeable future, I just can’t justify commit the time to bring her back to her former glory. If I can’t use her myself I'll have to hand that baton over to her next happy owner.
Current engine has very few miles on it. I still start her up every fortnight then drive her forward and back to run the oil through her and prevent brakes jamming up etc. The engine starts up and runs fine, I charge the battery up between times but having not been taken off the drive for such a long time, the foam engine bay seal (part no. J10219 @ £27.50) has perished, so it might be a good idea to give the van a service and grease the joints etc. before driving her any distance.
A VERY reluctant sale as I have owned this old girl since Feburary 14th 1999 and we have thousands on her over the decades keeping her solid and road worthy. As much as it breaks my heart to sell "part of my family", it's worse to think that the van is not getting used she in the way it should be.
4/5 berth Westfalia interior with later Richard Holdsworth pop top roof. 240v & 12v leisure battery electric hook up. twin burner gas cooker, stainless steel sink, drawer unit with space for 12V fridge wardrobe & original swivel table. Rock n' Roll bed plus double bunk fits above in the pop top.
Recently fitted new back lights, wing mirrors, front door handles & barrels, black vinyl cab door cards, inside door handles, three brand new rear seat belts.
I also have a brand new ignition barrel & keys ready to fit. Gear stick linkage recently replaced
I also have lots of extras available that can be negotiated as part of the deal if so required. These include extra front child's bunk, thermal mats for all windows and pop top interior. 240v/12v fridge, large drive away awning (with bedroom compartment) and lots of other VW camper related stuff. I have also obtained enough light blue REAL leather to re upholster both the front & rear seats.
