VW Type 2 Bay 1973 (79,703 miles) crossover year camper van that has two names - Ruby and now Blueby!
I bought it in lockdown 2020 and it was a ruby red and then a tin top (apparently, originally out of the factory it was a Westfalia). Over 2021/22 I got the body work all repaired and rust removed and resprayed to the original factory colours of blue (L 53 H - Orientblau - Orient Blue) and white (L 90 D - pastellweiB - Pastel White ). I wanted to retain the tin-top-esq profile so fitted a low profile straight lift roof supplied by Space Roofs.
I have spent a significant amount of money (well over £15,000) in the restoration so you would be getting loads of work already done.
The engine has always been reliable, having been mostly refitted after a fire in 2014 according to records I have from previous owners. It has always ran and driven very well for me, with only a slightly sticky 2nd gear at times but that's probably my driving!
Over the years I have had various repairs and bits and bobs done as you have to do and it's recently had new ignition switch, generator warning lights, brake pipe clips, near side brake bulb, new 3-piece clutch, gear linkage replaced, leisure battery fitted and full service (7/2/2025) and MOT (6/2/2025). It's even got half a tank of petrol in for your convenience.
The lift-up Space Roof comes with a foldout wooden roof/bed and three blue vinyl covered piped covers to create a bed space in the roof. Below is a standard rock and roll bed that can be folded out to make another bed. It has a heated rear window glass but not wired up. Two windows slide open also. New locks fitted.
This, as ever with campers, is a reluctant sale, but she's got to go now to a new owner who can continue the renovation of the interior and anything remaining to suit their own taste. Of course there are some minor spots of rust here and there underneath and on the chrome bumpers but I have the original white bumpers included that would need a respray. Comes with radio and has speakers and some charging points and leisure battery.
People who can get to the South East of England UK (West Malling/ Maidstone/Kent) easily preferred because I will not be driving it to anybody.
Offers considered.
Thanks for looking!
