We have owned since January 2020 and have enjoyed many trips away in him (Isle of Wight, Wales, Denmark, various UK festivals and weekend trips).
There is so much to say about Kenny. Being a California the quality of the conversion and the features it has is vast. We have also made some modifications/enhancements since owning which I have made reference too.
He is a fantastic van, a joy to drive and the camping set-up is perfect. He has so much cupboard space and storage. There really is a lot to cover so please contact me if you have any questions or want to come and view him. He's all ready for a getaway and go trip!
Engine/Mechanics/Service:
Current mileage is 121,158km. We have done less than 15,000km in the almost 5 years of owning him.
He was imported from Germany in June 2006. When I bought him (from VW Down Under) he came with an extensive amount of paperwork, including various German documents. I have tried to organise this as best as possible as can be seen in a picture and I have kept all paperwork in the past 5 years since owning him.
Main work carried out since owning:
• New Exhaust system (December 2023)
• New Turbo (September 2021)
• New Cylinder Head (July 2024)
• New battery (January 2023)
• Serviced and MOT'd as should be done on an annual basis
Interior/Camping functionality:
The quality of the interior is in very good condition. This is an almost 35 year old van however we have kept him clean, do not have pets nor smoke. We have made some repairs/enhancements for our camping trips:
• Off-grid, solar work consisting of: 2x 42 amp lithium batteries, 100w Solar Panel above drivers cab, USB and cigarette lighter installed in the rear, Replaced 3x strip lights with LED bulbs (this cost us £1,700 and has been fantastic - you can see on your phone with an app how much battery usage you have left and how much electricity the solar is creating. You can go completely off grid and be on trips for 2 weeks plus without this running out if you are wise with usage)
• New Dometic CRX50 Fridge including adaptor to switch between 12v and 240v - this fridge is amazing!
• Original fridge is still available (although wasn't working properly when I bought the van) should you want the "original" look
• Childs hammock above driver and passenger seat (our youngest slept in here, she's now 4 - she loves it)
• The window in the roof above the drivers cab was leaking so we replaced this and the seal (Dec 2023)
• Fiamma Bike rack - can carry 2 adult bikes
• Rail put below awning so can attach a drive-away awning using "c" mount (note that this also has a fixed Fiamma awning as well)
• Reversing Camera (as can be seen to top right of steering wheel)
• Winter high-top cover (bought from Just Kampers to keep protected in the winter months)
• Boot liner to protect the rear mattress (we bought this just to protect the rear mattress - it's a simple, cheap thing but keeps everything clean and tidy in the back when using as a bed)
We are looking for a newer van so we can travel further away hence the sale.
General features of Kenny are:
• Left hand drive
• 5-berth (you can get 2 up top, 2 in the rock'n'roll bed and one in the hammock over the drivers cab) - however note you can only drive with 4
• 1.6 Turbo Diesel

• Painted in VW Red
Kenny, a Westfalia High Top Camper, began his life in Germany and was converted into a 4-berth by Westfalia. This means that he has everything you'll need for a summer trip away. Power steering and servo assisted breaks.

In the cab
• Stereo with front and rear speakers
• 12V socket (for satnav / phone charger)
• Heater (powered by engine heating system)

• Cooker/Sink/Fridge (note that the tap was working when we first had the van then it stopped. It could be a loose wire however we have never used the water tank so was never a problem for us)

• Rear child seatbelts (as you can see, 2 car seats can fit in here easily)
• Diesel heater
• On-board water tank (we have never used this)

• 2 lithium leisure batteries including charging system
Engine / Gearbox

Additional features
• ARB Awning
• LPG cylinder under van for cooker (has a vale where you can attach gas bbq etc too for outside cooking)
• Tow bar
Bodywork
• There are some signs of rust showing as would be expected for a van of 35 years. Generally, the majority of the body is in very good condition however main areas of rust are:
- Rear passenger side wheel arch
- Tailgate bottom right corner and by the water jet
- Minor bubble by the fuel filler tank
Underneath the van where you isolate the gas/fill up the LPG, the plastic cover is slightly cracked. This still stays up and has never caused us any issues however I know replacement parts are available.
