1972 T2 Westfalia (Tax exempt) - Very good condition

1972 VW Westfalia camper (Tax exempt), registered new in UK 1974 (Hence M reg)
Only 3 owners from new with original bill of sale and complete book pack, we are the 3rd owners covering the last 24 years to date.
This van has been well maintained throughout its time with us, and although not concours is in very good condition for its 52years of service. (please see the images)
Within the first few years of ownership we had a replacement front steering beam fitted from a rust free Australian van.
Around 2010 we had the body professionally restored including new complete front panel, new front doors, sliding door patch panel, new rear lower quarter panels, new pop top canvas and total respray inside and out. (Westy started life all pastel white, previous owner then changed to white over yellow, we changed it to white over Teale green.
2012 we had the 1600cc engine rebuilt by Race Shack of Tewkesbury, this included new pistons, barrels, extra deep sump and sorting the twin carbs.
The van starts and runs really well, but could do with the carbs balancing as has slight hesitation at low speed acceleration. Probably due to the fact its been garage stored / unused for the last 4 months.
About 4 years ago the brakes were professionally overhauled and the fuel tank sender unit repaired by a classic VW restorer.
The interior is original Westfalia in very good condition, with 3 clock dash including clock (not worked for last 3 years or so). There is a twin burner hob and electric hook up, also have original sink / coolbox / water tank cabinet which can be refitted plus original VW Mototent (Awning)
All in all a very usable van ready for more fun will be sad to see her go, but purchased a new T6 a few months ago and can’t use 2 vans!
