It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to sell our lovely Splitty. It is time for her to move on to a new home. We have had her for about 15 years and, as a family, we have had nothing but fun memories in her. The kids have now grown and flown the nest and the camping holidays have reduced to a trickle. She needs to give another home as much fun and smiley times as she gave us
We had her fully restored by Andy at vdubcampers near Chichester 15 years ago - the bus has benefitted from many Creative Engineering goodies - Safari Windows, pop out side widows, steering box etc and was fitted with a Laurie Petit twin carb 1600 engine which still runs and purrs like a dream. Our splitty has the benefits of front disc brakes and uprated rear brakes. There are so many little extras that I don't really know where to start - stereo, gas heater etc..
Whatever restoration we did, we have tried to keep her as close to the original as possible. The interior was made by Vaughn Green of CCR Interiors - he has been regularly featured for his amazing work in Volksworld Camper & Bus magazine.
It has been 15 years since the restoration, so there are one or two things that will need a tidy up if desired - a bit of paint work here and there, but nothing too bad - the front bumper could do with a respray etc. We had the underneath sealed during the restoration, so that is in good order. If you want a good, reliable, comfortable, "put a smile on your face" bus, then come and have a look :) If you would like more photos of bits and pieces, I am happy to do so.
