VW Autosleeper Trident 1987

Four berth high top with only two owners from new. Present owner for 34 years. The campervan is still in regular use and was driven over alpine passes in Switzerland last summer. Full service history from new. MOT to May 2025. Factory reconditioned engine with new clutch and new Webber carburettor fitted in 2022 with 14000 miles driven since then. New stainless-steel exhaust fitted in 2020 and new fuel tank in 2019. All coolant pipes have been replaced. Original handbook and original Autosleeper interior fittings. Generous storage space. Fridge operates on battery or on mains hook up. Gas, electric supply and thermostat are in place for a Propex blown air heater although the old heater unit has been removed as it was not working. The campervan comes with a Fiamma awning and Fiamma bike rack (3 bikes). All season tyres fitted. The van cruises happily at 70mph on motorways and has mainly been used for long distances on regular European holidays for a family of four.
Bodywork has been maintained over the years including new front wheel arches and new front lower section above the bumper but additional repairs are needed to maintain its appearance. The centre and rear offside panels need replacing and the panel below the windscreen needs repair under the windscreen seal or replacement.
A change in leisure activities, together with the need for someone else to maintain the bodywork has led to a reluctant decision to sell after 34 years of wonderful trips in this vehicle. Although we have considered replacing it in the past, we could not find any other campervan of its size with so much interior living and storage space.
