1979 T2 Viking 2-litre, 8 seater/6 berth

Late T2 Bay Window Viking camper van, owned for 6 years and now selling due to lack of use as our children are now flying the nest. We have spent the thick end of £10,000 (see pics) bringing it up to scratch and installing sensible upgrades such as an automatic engine bay fire extinguisher system, modern fridge, electric fuel pump etc.

First registered in November 1979, it has the two-litre engine which can keep up with modern traffic, and happily cruise at 60-65mph. It will also go up hills! It’s been to southern France and back with no issues. It has its’ original Viking interior from 1979, and the cushions are in excellent condition, although some of the wooden units could do with a refresh due to sun fading etc. Blaupunkt radio/CD player fitted, as well as VDO voltmeter, oil pressure and temp gauges to keep an eye on things.

The Viking can easily sleep 4 adults, or 2 adults and 4 children. We specifically wanted a Viking conversion as they are much more spacious and versatile than some other conversions. It is an eight-seater and has seat belts fitted throughout. However, the middle front seat and the middle rear-facing seat can be removed so that you have the gangway between the driving area and rest of the van.

Mechanically excellent, body is good, having been the subject of an older restoration by a previous owner. However the front panel is starting to look at bit scabby at the bottom edge behind the front bumper – I’ve not tried to do anything with this as I want to be transparent about the van. The van is MOT and Tax exempt, being registered as a historic vehicle. For peace of mind I can have the van MOT’d – I had it MOT’d in April last year and it has only done a 100 or so miles since.

Van is located Devon/Somerset border, viewings are encouraged and I am happy to discuss in further detail over the phone.
