VW T2 Bay Window 1979 Twin Slider
Newly Refurbished 2276cc Dan Simpson Engine!!
Manual transmission.

Betty is a beautiful historic vehicle and brings a smile wherever she travels. Not only because she looks great in her original Neptune Blue paintwork and original features but also because of the lovely sound of the extra special 2276cc stroker engine hand built by the late famous Dan Simpson (www.dansimpsonvwengines.com). This engine has just been professionally fully refurbished with new parts by Volks Farmers Ltd so it runs like new.

The fuel system is Filter King and the exhaust was handmade in stainless steel by Turbo Thomas. A lovely pair of Dellorto carburettors help to make this powerful engine capable of around 130BHP (as per last dyno reading). This means climbing hills is a breeze and Betty can maintain a comfortable speed of 70mph on a motorway.

Twin sliding doors are a rarity in VW Campers, Betty was manufactured as a delivery vehicle. The driver could pull up on either side of the road and unload with ease. We have found these doors to be quite a practical advantage.

The interior includes a full length and width rock and roll bed from Bluebird customs, a solid oak floor, Heat Source Propex heater which links to the cooker gas unit and provides heat to the back and to the windscreen for demisting. 1000w convertor with leisure battery and mains hookup also with a split charger so you can either get 240v power from the leisure battery or from mains hookup. 2 x 240v sockets in the kick panel of the bed.

In terms of in car entertainment, Betty is fully loaded, she has a flip out touchscreen head unit with sat nav, dvd player etc rigged up to a full set of JBL GTO speakers (10” Subwoofer, 2 x 6 x 9 speakers in the rear. 10cm door mounted speakers and separate speakers and separate tweeters in the front) all powered off two separate JBL amplifiers. There is also an 8 inch focal sub in the front.

Blackout curtains and extremely comfortable memory foam topped mattress / rear seats make sleeping in Betty a wonderful experience. There is an original swing out cooker, storage trunk and fold away table. Also included is a lovely retro sun awning, a Khyam driveaway awning and a set of window mats to keep her cool or warm to suit the weather!

Up front there is a beautiful handmade aluminium and wood steering wheel from MCJ products, a dash mounted Autometer Monster Tachometer with shift change light. Underneath is a Bambus parcel shelf and a full set of madmatz coir mats. An original Gene Berg gear shifter was imported from the USA which enables smooth and tight gear changes. There are two seat belts in the front. The tyres are Hancook van rated. There is a Scorpion Alarm/Immobilser fitted. The front seats are the original seats so there is some wear.

There are lots of receipts for work carried out by specialists over the years. Betty is MOT and Tax exempt as she falls into the historic vehicle category.
