VW T2. Split screen / Splitty 1960. Complete 2-year restoration!! Original RHD

This is BURTY the 1960 Split screen / Splitty Camper Van

2-year complete nut and bolt restoration. Less than 3000 miles since completion. Original RHD model, exported to South Africa on 13 September 1960 with sunroof. Re-imported as a bare shell.

Volkswagen Schatzkammer der Marke: Model 228, VW Microbus with sun roof, right hand drive. Vehicle ID 651 593.

Bodywork
Full, bare-metal restoration. Inside and out 2 coats epoxy primer, then high build primer, then 2k-dove blue on bottom, pearl white on top. Underside and belly pans also stone chip protected and painted in 2k paint pearl white.

Suspension/drive
Front - Red 9 design adjustable wishbone suspension with Porsche 944 hubs and Wilwood 4 pot calipers.
Rear - Porsche 944 IRS on adjustable spring plates, Porsche rear disc calipers. All duel circuit brake upgrade, all new pipes master cylinder etc.
Fuchs alloy wheels with new Goodyear 175/65/15 tyres.

Interior
Eberspacher Airtronic heating system with separate fuel tank, Rusty Lee rock-n-roll bed, upholstery and door cards in blue and off-white by Delilah’s Upholstery. Magnetic curtain set by Delilah’s. Front seats are individual leather upholstered seats, which swivel fully to face the back, floor fully strengthened as bulkhead removed, retractable seat belts all round.
Lined sunroof with perforated vinyl throughout the rest of the roof.
RetroSound stereo with Bluetooth, iPod and USB connections, 4 built-in speakers inc 6x9s and hands-free too. MCJ steering wheel, handles and knobs.
Brand new wiring loom by Volksgoods, all 12v with leisure battery circuit and split charge relay system, auxiliary fuse board in engine bay with relays to ensure engine only runs when alternator or starter are running.
Extra dials in vent box include oil pressure, oil temp and voltage dials. LED strip lights throughout on different toggle switches.

Windows/exterior
Creative Engineering Safari windows at front, polished stainless steel cab windows, 2 x polished pop out windows in rear. Stainless polished bumpers, Every nut and bolt is also stainless, from Monkeydubs. Retractable full-length vinyl sun roof. All New seals and glass throughout.

Engine
VW type 4 – 2 Litre CJ engine fitted, CSP upright conversion fed by 2 twin Weber 40 Carbs. This has been rebuilt with new pistons, cylinders and heads. External oil cooler on thermostat bypass with cooling fan. Ahnendorp oil filler. Complete stainless Vintage Speed exhaust system. It’s quick and fuel efficient too!

He's a fantastic van with a great specification and huge personality. Good reason for very sad sale :-(
