Description
Unfortunately due to a sale recently falling through (nothing to do with the van!) we have decided to put our camper back on the market for a heavily reduced £17k, hopefully to get a quick sale which is now our priority. We are having a baby (the due date is 30 May so any moment now) and need the cash to fund a move to a 2-bed house and maternity leave.
We can hopefully take viewings and test drives all this and next week (though who knows!). It passed its MOT this month and had a comprehensive service (costing 2k!) for complete peace of mind. ‘Dubbie’ (though feel free to change the name) is a 1972 T2 VW Campervan (registered 1973) who has been a wonderful companion on trips all around the UK and has proven incredibly characterful and surprisingly dependable. We have all the paperwork to account for all the work over the years.
We thought it would be helpful to list out some of the many wonderful bits, and let’s be honest, some of the less wonderful bits too!
Check out her insta at 'Dubbiethevw' for more photos.
Pros • Totally re-upholstered interior to match the colouring – bespoke designed by Delilah’s and professional installed.
• We have also bought matching interior upholstered side panels, which match the interior but we haven’t installed yet.
• New Engine (fewer than 5,000 miles since installation). This is a top-quality 1600cc engine by VW Engine Company fitted (at quite the cost!) in September 2020.
• Brand new Rusty Lee rock’n’roll bed.
• Brand new Battery, Clutch and Brake pads (literally installed a few days ago as part of the service)
• New Tyres, Exhaust and Anti-roll bar.
• Original Interior cupboards – this is a bit of a collectors item now and worth a few bob (we included a picture).
• We are also happy to include all of the various bits we have bought for the van over the years. This includes a matching yellow canopy, a fire pit, bespoke window covers, all the cutlery, storage etc. You can have a good look at it all to decide for yourself.
Cons • Scratch – there is a slight bit of scratching (which I have included in the pictures so you can see) to the left hand side of the van. We got a quote to fix this of £900 for reference, but were told it isn’t a priority as it is just aesthetic.
• Slight Rust – it is inevitable these vehicles will have some rust, and sadly Dubbie is no different. There are two areas of rust which we can point out when you look her over (i) a bubble on the lower front, and (ii) a little bubbling across the side panel underneath the mirror on the right hand side of the van. Neither are major issues.
• We haven’t been able to get the tap inside the sink to work, but I reckon would be a very quick and easy fix for someone with a little know-how.
We are located in Kings Cross, London, if you wanted to visit the van and happy to answer any and all questions you might have. Please feel free to give us an email on [email protected] or a text on 07982 123867.
It really is a wonderful, characterful van and we really hope Dubbie’s new owner gets as much pleasure and fun out of it as we have!
Thanks, Ed and Harriet
