Description
This VWT2 Baywindow, affectionately named 'Patsy', benefits from a very clean and fresh interior. The white, vinyl seat covers are clean, unripped and free from obvious defects. The floor in the cab is black carpet in good condition.
The dash is blue and white, matching the exterior of the van. The odometer has stopped working recently and the speedometer seems inconsistent with the needle oscillating. This would require attention.
The rear cabin of the van is bright and clean, an “L” shaped seating unit with blue and white vinyl covers, a storage unit and a luggage compartment behind the seats. The floor is carpeted in new looking black carpet.
There is a three speaker Pioneer array fitted under the seat which is connected to the removeable head -unit in the cab. The headlining and door cards are trimmed in white vinyl and are all in used but good condition.
The configuration is layed out as a flexible and comfortable day van. It is currently very presentable, useable, and flexible. It also provides a great “blank canvas,” however, for a new owner who may want to reconfigure the rear cab as more of a camper. The exterior is bright blue and white, suited to the fun, holiday ambience of the T2 Bay. The van has been resprayed to tidy and brighten its exterior and it presents very well.
Panel gaps are tight and symmetrical and all doors and hatches open and close easily. No significant dents, dings, scratches, or areas of corrosion.
The steel wheels are adorned with chromed hub caps and the tyres are reported to be nearly new throughout. 'Patsy' has new oil seals, new oil filter, engine oil change, new battery, new fuel filter and fuel line. In addition, new points, plug leads, distributer cap and advance vacuum unit have been fitted. New front shock absorbers and tie-rod ends complete the list.
She starts easily from cold and ticks over without any unexpected smoke. The drive is very compliant and comfortable without any noted clonks or thumps from the suspension.
The 1.6L engine is understood to have a high-compression head fitted and it drives very well and pulls robustly.
The challenge with vehicles of this age is usually rust but with 'Patsy' having spent her life in South Africa, the new owner will have no concerns in that respect. Add to that this Bay’s low original mileage, great presentation and very flexible configuration and you have something very desirable in prospect.
