Description

I am re-advertising my fully restored 1969/70 (early bay) Devon campervan, which I have 'knowned' since the mid 1990's. I am locked down in Mexico due to the pandemic and unfortunately have struggled to sell it due to this inconvenience. I can organise a viewing remotely by Email appointment only ([email protected]). The van is in Storage but I can arrange for someone to meet you with the keys and hopefully take a test drive... Saturdays preferred, Sundays aren't possible. V5 log book is signed and with my parents...

It has been restored fully and upgraded all round from early to late bay performance. I converted the van to diesel with the help of race mechanic friends and retained the early bay look, which I prefer. Long story short, there is virtually nothing of note that has not been replaced or restored on this van. Unfortunately due to the lockdown, I don't have any more images with me in Mexico to upload ... there were many more on just Kampers previously but they've been lost. [Note: I believe the old ad with more photos is re-activated, more images available there JK ID 9443: ]. The front wheel colour is now red & stainless steel and the windows are tinted. The van used to be beige, I preferred red and colour coded it accordingly. The chassis is original and still immaculate, now fully undersealed... images of post and pre-underseal available on the old ad mentioned above. I have a full photographed portfolio of the restoration on my HD in the UK that I can forward when I return.

My aim was to modernise the van as much as possible so I could use it as a reliable daily drive... this I accomplished. Modernising it was more difficult... it remains 1960's technology and despite spending close to twice the asking price during the renovations, it drives very similar to the original, which I also like. It sits comfortably at 55/60 MPH, as it should, but gets there much quicker than the dull petrol engine that was replaced. This van has no issues keeping up with modern traffic, has diesel torque and reliability plus it gets close to 50 MPG at 50MPH. Historic vehicle, no need to MOT (but it has one), Free road tax and classic insurance. Cheapest to run, best campervan on the road, no question... I renovated it to be that way. I have driven it the length and breadth of the UK without issue.

New rebuilt gearbox and reconditioned turbo diesel engine, brakes up-rated to disks from drums; you name it...all upgraded to VOSA specifications. Full details will be given to those interested. I have been out of the UK since the beginning of the pandemic so it may need a little bit of TLC and there are a couple of minor snags I'm aware of that may need to be looked at, nothing major at all... best diesel conversion ever, without doubt... Guaranteed.
