Background
The ‘bay window’ Type 2 Volkswagen Camper arrived in 1967 and was initially built in Germany, as is the case for our example listed here. The T2 manages to encompass the integrity of the T1 but is more affordable and easier to live with in respect to parts and maintenance. There is a flourishing aftermarket for the T2, which means parts are never far away.
History
In 2017 our Campervan had a full professional restoration having covered 39,288 miles. The body was stripped back to bare metal, with full rust protection treatment and resprayed in Brilliant Blue and Cream. A complete full mechanical and electrical overhaul; with the 16,00cc engine, gearbox, steering, suspension and brakes being refurbished to a high standard. Furthermore, all window and door seals were replaced with new.
The interior has been fully refurbished to a high standard. This is evidenced by the custom interior of the VW embroidery, Bentley stitched seats and matching door panels. There is plenty of storage provided by bespoke cabinets throughout. Plus, placing the spare wheel externally at the rear on a square section swing away carrier hinge created more space in the cabin. Furthermore, there is space and wiring for an electric cooler/fridge. There is a table (stored at the rear of the camper) with a retractable stand, that clicks into place when required. The sink has an electric pump, double gas hob, leisure battery with split charge capability and a 240V hook-up. The rear seats easily transform into a rock-n-roll bed (thanks to the Z-Frame design). The straight sided pop-top gives added height and practicality.
The Campervan has been right hand drive converted and has historic vehicle classification, meaning that it is road tax and MOT exempt. It has only travelled 372 miles since it had a full MOT on 6th October 2017 with no advisories.
Condition
The images show that this an outstanding example of Volkswagen’s most recognisable vehicles. The camper is very reliable, has had a new battery in 2020 and starts every time. There are no major issues with the panels and the underside is in excellent condition. It is completely stock, giving peace of mind that there are no questionable past modifications to contend with.
However, this is a vehicle from 1976 and so there are some minor imperfections. The steel wheels are in good condition, with some light corrosion on the chrome hubcaps.

Reason for Sale
I am very enthusiastic and absolutely passionate about VW Campervans. I have wanted one since I was a very small child and my dream came true. The campervan was designed to the high specification with intention of being used as a wedding vehicle. It was used for one wedding and then it was decided to be used as a personal vehicle. My recent ownership of a dog has meant the campervan has had minimal use - the thought of muddy paw prints and accidental scratches brings tears to my eyes.
Reluctantly, the decision has been to put the campervan up for sale and to allow someone else to enjoy this exquisite, bespoke campervan to its fullest.
It has to be viewed in person to appreciate the condition and I would welcome any serious potential buyers for viewings.
