JK Staff Cars: Meg Cave’s Project Bug, New Shell!
Here’s the latest update from Meg Cave, the youngest member of the JK Team, who’s currently working on her first ever project, a Beetle called Kimberley.
You can see her previous blogs here.
Last week Luke, Paul and I set off after work from JK HQ to pick up the new shell for Kimberley. The old shell was just too rusted to be usable, so the only way to get Kimberley back on the road was to pick up a new one and get working on that.

We made a couple of people smile as we stopped for petrol with the shell. One of the best things about having old cars like Beetles is the smiles they put on random peoples faces when you’re out and about!
When we got to the paint shack, we had to move a load of fastback parts out of the way so we could get to Kimberley’s old shell. It took us some time to handle the old shell out of the workshop, as the doors and glass and everything made it a lot heavier than the new one. We removed these bits to make it easier to move, and then got it onto the trailer once we’d taken the new one off.

The new shell is ready and waiting at the workshop for us to get started getting it ready.
I’m still hoping to get to BugJam with Kimberley, but we’ll see how that goes!
