Steve Gosling, our marketing director, headed to VolksWeald 2022 this weekend, at Penshurst Palace & Gardens in Kent, taking our new Project 22 VW T6.1 out for a spin and bringing his young family to a great Volkswagen show!
The newly-converted Project 22 van is Steve's daily driver, which he uses every day to get him to JK HQ and back, but with the transformation from entry-level van into super cool campervan completed, we're on a mission to take it to different shows and events around the place to really put it through its paces and test out all the new products we've fitted it with.
What's VolksWeald like?
This was the fourth time that VolksWeald had been held, and camping tickets were totally sold out, so it's clearly already made a name for itself as a really great event!
Steve and his family said that the atmosphere was great, as was the music. The mix of cars was excellent, and the whole thing was really kid-friendly - you could enter the grounds of Penshurst Palace and use the adventure playground for free, which is a massive plus for anyone with kids (or adults who just like adventure playgrounds!).
Kids also got in free to the event, so it really is a great family day out for those of us who have to pick and choose which shows we can get out to.
A great range of different VWs were parked up on display at VolksWeald, from early Beetles and campers, through to beach buggies, Golfs, Caddies and modern Transporters. We've been reading through the massive 64-page show guide, which was produced in partnership with Air-Style Magazine, and there's a lot of people here at JK HQ who'll be trying to secure camping tickets for next year!
Take a look at some of the photos that Steve took while he was there on Sunday, and follow VolksWeald on Facebook and Instagram so you don't miss out on the 2023 show.
