If you couldn’t make it to Classics at the Clubhouse this year, then hopefully this show report will help you feel like you were really there (and show you some of the amazing classics you missed!).
Classics at the Clubhouse is one of our favourite shows of the year, and it’s just down the road from JK HQ so a few of us headed over to the Sandford Springs Hotel & Golf Club for a great day of catching up with friends and checking out hundreds of amazing classics.
Not everyone from the JK Team who wanted to go could make it, as various things sprang up to keep Shaun, Caz, Jason, and Steve from attending, but we’re trying to play it down so they don’t feel too bad for missing out!
Classics at the Clubhouse 2025
Every year, Classics at the Clubhouse feels like a really unique event and one that’s growing all the time!

It’s probably the only opportunity most of us will get to drive our VWs across a golf course without getting into serious trouble, and that novelty is definitely part of the charm. The whole show is laid out over part of the Sandford Springs golf course, so the landscaping and atmosphere make the whole event feel really different to anything else.
The whole event feels really chill, with live music played near the catering area where people can relax on hay bales and catch up, but no noisy PA systems or echoey halls – just the sounds of thousands of people chatting and birds singing in the woods around the course, interrupted occasionally by an engine starting up!

Probably the loudest and most distinctive engine we heard at Classics at the Clubhouse 2025 belonged to the Formula Vee racer which Chris Jones had just finished building. We watched him slide into the driver’s seat with impressive grace, and then grin like a naughty child when he fired it up. This immediately drew a crowd, as it produced a sound which was way bigger than anyone expected from the little racer!
Chris has spent a long time creating his Formula Vee, and we’ve been getting updates on the build as we supplied him with parts and info, so it was amazing to see it finished and proudly on display at the show this weekend.

The Formula Vee was parked up next to Chris’ T2 Split Screen, which was right next to a huge display of Splits which stretched around the course. This was all part of celebrating 75 years of the VW Split Screen, as they first rolled off the production line in Germany back in 1950!
It was great to see such a wide variety of Splitscreens parked up together, with different styles, models, and years displayed side by side. They all looked amazing, and we’re looking forward to seeing even more of them at Goodwood Revival later this summer!

Displays at Classics at the Clubhouse
The rolling sweep of T2 Splits wasn’t the only display at the show, as a huge portion of the golf course was given over to showing off some awesome classic VWs, Porsches, and even a few Fiat 500s.
It felt like the Survivor Display was especially popular this year, and not just because it’s tucked away in the shade! It was so popular last year that the Classics at the Clubhouse team brought back the Survivor Display again for 2025, and it was just as impressive as last year.

Although Caz’ stunningly original Oval, Dotty, wasn’t part of the line-up this year, there were some really amazing VWs tucked away there, including a Split Screen which raised some interesting questions about how much of a vehicle can be missing before you can’t really call it a vehicle anymore!
It wasn’t just Volkswagens on display, though, as huge areas were dedicated to the iconic Porsche 356, air-cooled Flat-4 Porsches, and other air-cooled Porsches, which added some cool variety to the show.

Just Kampers’ Cars at Classics at the Clubhouse 2025
A few of the JK Team sadly couldn’t make it to Classics at the Clubhouse this year, but Mark, Rae, Lewis, Chet, and Beau all headed over to the show with their classics, and I borrowed Jack for the day.
Mark parked his Porsche 356 Speedster up on the JK stand, Rae, Lewis, and I parked our Beetles up next to it, and Beau parked his own Beetle amongst the other Bugs on display, where it drew quite a crowd!

We chatted to loads of people all day, whether they’d come over with a specific question or just got talking while they were sheltering from the blazing sun or unexpected rain under our gazebo!
It’s always really great to be able to speak to so many of you face to face at shows and events, which is part of why we keep on going to them whenever we can.
Maybe some JK-branded sun cream would be a good shout for next year’s Classics at the Clubhouse, as I can’t be the only one who’s looking a little red after a full day out in the sunshine!

Sponsors Choice Award
We sponsored Classics at the Clubhouse again this year, which meant we had the unbelievably difficult job of submitting two vehicles to be given a Sponsors Choice Award!
This wasn’t easy at all, given the sheer number of amazing VWs on display all across the event, and because there wasn’t really any set criteria we were asked to select the vehicles by – it was just whatever we liked the most.
In the end we settled on a really gorgeous 1955 T2 Split, which was both really original and clearly driven and enjoyed a lot – for us, that’s a perfect blend!

The bus belongs to Chris Carr, who we sadly didn't get a chance to speak to while we were at Classics at the Clubhouse, but they got in contact after the event to thank us for choosing their Split and giving us a bit more information about it.
Chris explained that he'd only done 135 miles in the Splitscreen beforehand, and that the show was its first proper run out since around 1976!
"It’s been a long tough road getting it to the show, and hearing there was a Winner’s sticker in the window capped off an emotional weekend!"
We've asked Chris if he'd be up for writing some more about the bus and its history so that we can share it here on the Just Kampers website, so hopefully we'll have some more details for you soon.

It’s always amazing to see how creative people can get with their Volkswagens, and love to see custom VWs out and about – we’ve definitely built enough of them ourselves – but there’s something really special about seeing a 70-year-old bus which is still in such an original condition and is still being used and loved.
Congratulations again to Chris for making it to Classics at the Clubhouse, and we're glad we helped to make the event even more special for you!
All the other sponsors we chatted with were having just as difficult a time making a choice as we were, which shows just how many amazing vehicles were parked up at the event this year.
