We marked Drive Your VW to Work Day again this year with another photoshoot outside JK HQ with a few of the JK Team’s Volkswagens!
Drive Your VW to Work Day and World Wide VW Beetle Day take place on 22 June each year, and have done since 1995. First set up by Alexander Gromow as the World Wide VW Beetle Day, the event soon morphed into Drive Your VW Beetle to Work Day, and then Drive Your VW to Work Day as the owners of other classic VWs looked to get involved.
The international event encourages people all around the world to get their Beetle’s out and about on 22 June, driving them to work, going for a drive around town, or just parking them on your driveway if they’re not currently driveable – anything to get the iconic VW Beetle seen by as many people as possible.

Given that many of the JK Team own at least one of the VWs we sell parts for (if not three or four different ones!) a lot of us drive VWs to work every day – it isn’t filling our car park up with Volkswagens that’s the problem, it’s getting them all into a photo!
The largest space we’ve got for a photo like this is in the yard outside JK HQ, but there are a couple of issues. Firstly, the yard itself slopes upwards, so any VWs closer to the camera will start to block out those parked further back, and secondly, the yard is really busy.
Anyone who’s come to JK HQ to pick up a click and collect order will likely have seen vans, trucks, and lorries arriving here to deliver parts and accessories to fill up our shelves, and courier vans loading up with boxes and parcels ready to be delivered out to you – there aren’t often big pauses when there’s nothing going on out there.
Luckily our resident photographer extraordinaire, Nick, has done a few of these shoots now and so managed to get everyone lined up, photographed, and out the way again in no time!
The VWs in this year’s Drive Your VW to Work Day photo are:
• A black 1972 VW Beetle belonging to Lewis, our developer.
• A beige 1984 VW T25, owned by Gemma from our purchasing team.
• A blue 1973 VW Beetle, which belongs to Rae from our warehouse team.
• A black VW T6.1, driven by our Managing Director, Steve.
• A white-and-black 2003 VW T4 belonging to Mike and George from our returns and sales teams.
• A custom 1967 VW Beetle, which is being built by Beau from our warehouse team.
• A red 1971 T2 Bay, which we built with EMPI parts for European Bug-In last summer.
• A green 1956 Oval Beetle, built by Chet from our Trade Sales Team.
