Easy, Affordable Sound Deadening at Just Kampers
We've added a great range of easy, affordable sound deadening options to our ever-growing range here at Just Kampers, to give you some options when restoring your classic or converting a camper.
You'll now find PRO® Sound Deadening sheets, as well as PRO's insulating rubber foam with foil, available here at Just Kampers. These sound deadening materials are a great way to limit vibrations and road noise in your vehicle, improve the sound you get from your stereo equipment, and help to insulate your campervan!
We chose to add these PRO® sound deadening options to our range because they work well, are simple to use, and are more affordable than some other options out there.
PRO Standard and Premium Sound Deadening Mats
We're now stocking both the Standard and Premium variations of PRO's sound deadening mats, which can be quickly and easily stuck to the metalwork of your vehicle to dramatically reduce the amount of rattling and road noise you hear while driving.
Whether you opt for the Standard or Premium options, you'll get a pack of 16 sheets of sound deadening material, each measurring 35cm by 50cm. This will give you a total coverage of 2.8 metres square - enough to make a huge difference to how loud your camper sounds while you're driving!
What's the difference between Standard and Premium sound deadening?
Both options are made using a layer of adhesive butyl material, topped with a layer of aliminium foil. These two layers work together to reduce road noise and rattles, as well as adding a limited amount of thermal insulation to your vehicle.
The difference is that the Standard option has an aluminium layer measuring 100 microns thick, while the Premium option is 200 microns thick. A less important distinction is that the Standard sound deadening mats have a silvery surface with a diamond pattern etched into them, while the Premium mats are black with a hexagonal pattern.
The diamond and hexagon patterns do contribute to their effectiveness, but really it's the thickness of the aluminium top layer which is making the biggest difference.
How do I fit PRO sound deadening mats?
These sound deadening mats are quick and easy to install, as they’re created with a self-adhesive backing on each sheet.
This means that you won’t need any special tools or equipment to fit the sound deadening mats to your vehicle. Simply prepare the area you want to apply the sound deadening sheets to by ensuring they're clean and rust-free, then peel off the backing sheet and apply the sound deadening mat directly to the metalwork.
Once it's in place, the butyl layer and aluminium top will work to dramatically reduce rattles and road noise.

How many sheets of PRO’s Standard Diamond do I need for my vehicle?
You'll be able to make a huge difference to the noise levels in your vehicle without needing to totally cover every panel and surface, so start off slow and add more sound deadening mats if you want to further reduce the level of noise you experience while driving.
Ultimately the exact amount you want to apply is entirely down to you, but we have listed the approximate sizes of the locations sound deadening is often applied to in several vehicles, below:
VW Beetle Interior: 3.12 m²
VW T2 Bay Cab: 2.63 m²
VW T2 Bay Rear: Floor Area: 4.31 m²
VW T5, T5.1, T6 & T6.1 Rear Floor Area (Short Wheel-Base): 4.3 m²
VW T5, T5.1, T6 & T6.1 (Long Wheel-Base): 5.0 m²
Ford Transit Rear Floor Area (Medium Wheel-Base): 5.26 m²
Ford Transit Rear Floor Area (Long Wheel-Base): 6.23 m²
PRO Insulating Rubber Foam with Foil
If you're keen to add some insulation to your campervan, and want to add sound deadening at the same time, then PRO Sound Deadening Insulation Rubber Foam is a fantastic option for getting both done at the same time!
It's created with two layers, a lot like the sound deadening sheets available by PRO, but these rolls of insulation are made up of a layer of foam and a layer of foil, instead.
The foam layer absorbs sound and helps to prevent vibrations in your vehicle’s bodywork, as well as acting as a thermal insulator to keep the warmth inside your camper. The foil layer on top helps to protect the foam, as well as helping to make it a more effective insulator and sound deadening tool.
A single roll measures 50cm wide, 5m long, and 6mm thick, giving you enough insulating foam to cover 2.5m² inside your vehicle.
The rolls of rubber foam are quick and easy to cut to shape and install, as it’s got a self-adhesive backing which can be applied to all manner of different surfaces inside your campervan.
