This 50-Watt solar panel is ideal for use on a campervan or motorhome, and will provide enough power to ensure that your batteries don’t get run down by electrical accessories like lights, phone chargers and fans. Setting up a solar charging system for your camper or caravan isn’t as complicated as it may seem, and once you’re done it’s an incredibly easy way to keep your leisure battery and main vehicle battery topped up with power.

A 50-Watt solar panel like this is ideal for handling smaller electrical accessories, with less demanding power draw, like phone chargers, interior lights and ventilation systems. If you find you need more power, it’s easy to add additional solar panels into your system, including a 100-Watt panel, which you can see here: J45867.

At a glance:

• 50 Watts gives you enough power to feed smaller electrical accessories,

• No more stressing about your batteries running flat,

• Surprisingly easy to set up and install in your camper or caravan,

• The panel is semi-flexible, so it will conform to the shape of your vehicle’s roof,

• Could last up to 30 years, if it’s properly taken care of.

Measures 880 mm long x 420 mm wide x 2.5 mm high.

A word on fitting

The dimensions of this solar panel make it perfect for fitting between the ‘ribs’ on the roof of the VW T4. This makes it ideal for tucking away on top of your vehicle, and having it gather up solar energy to power your batteries and devices.

50-Watt

A 50-Watt solar panel will give you 50 Watt hours (50wh) of power for every hour of sunlight it’s given. Naturally this will be more useful in the summer, or in warmer climes, where strong sunlight is much more plentiful.

Don’t despair though, your solar panel will still produce power for you if it’s overcast or cloudy, it just won’t be quite as much.

Semi-flexible

The solar cells which make up this panel are incredibly thin, which gives the panel the ability to flex and bend. This makes them ideal for mounting on the roof of your vehicle, where they can follow the curves and shape of the roof, rather than laying flat.

Monocrystalline

Solar panels made using monocrystalline designs use many small, efficient solar cells, rather than fewer larger ones. Each solar cell is made from high-purity silicon, and cut into octagons, so that lots of them can fit together across the surface of the solar panel.

Layered with what?

These solar panels are made up of multiple layers of different materials, which all work together to make the panel as efficient and effective as possible. The backing layer of fibreglass provides a base, which holds another layer of sunlight-resistant ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) to hold the cells in place and seal the unit.

Solar cells are guaranteed to operate at 90% of nominal power output at 10 years after purchase and at 80% of nominal power at 25 years after purchase. Two Tear Workmanship Warranty. This warranty is provided by the manufacturer of the solar cells.
