    • Could you tell me at what PSI the oil light is lit with this sender? The stock oil warning comes on at about 2PSI, I just want to make sure this will not light up the oil warning light at a higher pressure.
      Thx

      Simon
    • Answer: The warning lamp would come on at 7psi. Most engines are between 7 and 10 pis on idle when hot. Vw recommend 8.5 I think as good pressure. I know some are a lot less than that if they are a bit tired.

    • Can I use this with a 10bar vdo gauge
    • Answer: Good afternoon,

No, this would give you false readings on the gauge. The sender to use is J11700, which is a 10bar sender. It's only available on special order.

    • I need to replace my sender unit (it is frozen at 3 bar) can I do this without removing the engine? I have a 2litre type4 engined Bay and the tinware is very tight to the unit so cannot get a spanner on the hex part.
    • Answer: I would suggest that you try a thinner spanner if not then you would propable have to drop your engine to get to it .

    • Hi I've just bought one of these for a 1972 1700cc westy. My original oil pressure sender is located just rear of the dizzy and is accessible from the top of the engine. I was wondering how you go about fitting the new one?

Do you need to drop the engine or remove all the tin wear that side or is there a simple way I've missed? The problem I can't get my head round is how you drop it through the top hole in the tinwear that's too small in diameter for the new sender unit and even once through and hand tight how do you get a spanner in to fully tighten it as the body of the sender blocks above and there's no obvious way in underneath.
    • Answer: You need to trim the tinware for the sender to fit.
