Rear Hub Seal Kit VW Beetle 1950–1979 VW T2 Split 1950–1967
For models with swing axle transmission, the gearbox oil passes through the rear axle to lubricate the bearings, the oil is stopped at the rear brake backing plates by seals, bushings and an oil seal.
Fits VW Beetles built from 1950 to 1979, VW T2 Splits built from 1950 to 1967, and VW Karmann Ghias bilt from 1955 to 1967.
In the event of a leak, the gearbox oil penetrates the brake drums, reducing or even eliminating the braking effect.
Check the seal regularly and immediately replace the seal, O-rings and retaining ring if necessary.
