  • Good switch

A good switch which has solved my once ongoing five year problem of the van not starting properly. cheap aswell but, not as easy to fit as it suggest in the Haynes manual though. Van now running superbly.

    • Answer: The wires should be in your van already, this is just the switch.

    • why does my ignition stay on ( i realy am starting to think she has a life of her own and becoming a Herbi camper!)

    • Answer: There could be a few reasons why this is happening, I would suggest working thru the complete ignition circuit in sequence checking each part for continuity errors and shorts.

    • I have a 1987 T25 and the ignition switch on the columns seems to be intermittant. Is it easy to fit a new switch or is it a garage job? Fairly competetant at fixing things that the multi column switch seems to be quite complex
    • Answer: Yes it's a straight forward to swap over. There are plenty of guides on line showing how to do it.

    • Hi,

I bought a 1979 T2 in January of this year, after a short while the ignition would no longer turnover and we just heard a relay sounding click at the front of the bus when the key was turned. I had someone out to check over the electrics and all was fine and he diagnosed a faulty ignition switch. I ordered one from yourselves, took it into a garage to get fitted and duly all was fine. After only a few trips, the exact same thing has happened, went to start the engine, turned over initially but didn't start, turn the key a second time and got the familiar sounding click. I'm presuming that the ignition switch needs replacing again but I'm just concerned that this has now happened twice since I've owned it and that there could be something else that is causing this problem. Any advice would be appreciated.

      Thanks

      Gareth
    • Answer: Hello. The click could be the starter motor. Really you need a multi meter, Get someone to turn the key and test to see if you are getting 12 volts to the switch wire on the starter motor. If you are then it could well be the starter motor is faulty or bad connections/ Bad earth.
