EMPI Cylinder Head Shroud Nearside (Left) VW T2 Bay 1972–1979 1700cc to 2000cc

This EMPI lower left cylinder cooling tin is designed to help improve airflow around the cylinder head on 2.0-litre VW T2 Bays, providing additional cooling for your air-cooled engine.

Finished in black and supplied as a single left-hand piece, this cooling tin forms part of the engine’s cooling tinware and helps direct the airflow produced by the cooling fan where it’s needed.

Fits the nearside (left) on VW T2 Bays built from 1967 to 1979 with 2000cc air-cooled engines.

Always check your engine specification and existing cooling tinware before ordering, particularly if your VW T2 has previously been fitted with a replacement or modified engine.

What Does Cylinder Head Cooling Tin Do?

The cooling tinware fitted around an air-cooled VW engine helps control and direct the flow of cooler air around the cylinders and cylinder heads, to keep your engine at a stable working temperatire.

This EMPI lower cylinder cooling tin has been designed to increase airflow to the cylinder head for additional cooling, which can be especially important in performance engines or if you’re expecting to drive for long periods of time in warmer temperatures.

Fitting

You may need to remove or loosen surrounding engine components when installing this replacement cylinder head shroud.

Once it’s in place, you'll need to make sure the cooling tin sits correctly alongside the surrounding tinware and doesn't leave any gaps that cooling air can escape through. It's also a good opportunity to inspect the rest of your engine cooling tinware and seals for missing, damaged or incorrectly fitted components.
