Looking after your awning, tent or sun canopy will pay huge dividends, making it last longer and help maintain its appearance. Following these handy hints will mean that you’ll be enjoying yours for years to come. We shouldn’t be telling you really, but we’re nice like that!
If you’ve just bought a new tent or awning. Give it a ‘dry run’ before you go away. It’s a great way to find out at leisure how it all goes together - and it’s going to be a lot more fun finding out that something is missing now, rather than during a deluge on the campsite!
Even though it perpetually rains here in the UK, try not to put the awning away when it’s wet or damp. When it’s unavoidable, make sure that you dry it out as soon as possible once you’re home. A sturdy washing line makes a great place to dry it.
Don’t pack the awning in the same bag as the pegs or poles. Chances are they’ll move in transit and could
possibly damage the fabric.
If you have a conventional frame style tent or awning, take time to mark out all of the poles, so you know which goes where. Makes putting it up in the dark, with the kids screaming in your ear much more palatable.
If you’re enjoying your awning in windy conditions make sure you invest in an awning tie-down kit. It’s a strong strap that will help to prevent damage. If it’s really blowing a gale out there, we do still advise that you take it down however! We offer a great kit. J11730 uses hammer-in pegs and resists a substantial gale. Perfect for the British summer!
Always put your awning up, and pack it away with the zips closed, making sure it is clean and dirt free.
Invest in care products to keep your awning in ’tip top’ condition, like Zipease and awning cleaners.
Naturally we’ll be delighted for you to ignore all of the above. We’ll be able to sell you a replacement that little bit sooner!
