Quality Morris product. This oil is recommended by VW for all air cooled engines.

Modern oils contain dispersant additives that carry away contaminants which are removed from the oil by a cartridge filter. Older-style engines, including the aircooled units in older VWs, have instead a mesh gauze filter which is unable to filter out this waste. Morris SAE30 is a low dispersant oil that allows suspended debris to drop harmlesly into the base of your gauze filter.

    • would n't a synthetic oil be better...
    • Answer: There is a massive discussion regarding which oil to use in an airccoled engine, monograde oils were advised by Volkswagen and many people question if a more modern oil would be suitable but modern engines tend to be watercooled so run at different temperatures thus rendering the oils ineffectual

    • When doing an oil change is it worth considering an additive like STP or is it not recommended?
    • Answer: There are lots of different opinions on this but, I personally have never used any additive as VW never suggested adding any and I work on the principle that they know their engines best
