  • NOT SAFE

THIS KIT LOWERS THE HANDBRAKE EFFECTIVELY AND AS DESCRIBED. HOWEVER THE COMPONENT BENDS AS THE HANDBRAKE IS APPLIED. I WOULDN'T TRUST THIS TO HOLD THE VAN ON A HILL UNLESS ITS AN AUTO GEARBOX LIKE MINE, WHICH CAN BE LEFT IN PARK. THE KIT USES THE TWO ORIGINAL MOUNTING POINTS OF THE VW HANDBRAKE, BUT AT LEAST ONE EXTRA MOUNT POINT IS REQUIRED AT THE OPPOSITE END OF THE ADAPTER PLATE TO PREVENT THE PLATE BENDING.
GOOD IDEA, POOR DESIGN / DANGEROUS

Thank you for your review, we will pass your concerns on to the manufacturer to see if they can add a brace to improve the quality Thanks JK
  • Just works!

A very simple piece of kit that just works. It took me a few minutes to work-out how to fit it, but when I sussed it, no problem.
A set of fitting instructions would be good.
Tip: to remove the handbrake lever outer cover sleeve, lift the little tag underneath by its front edge with an electrical screwdriver.

    • does this come with fitting instructions? and is it easy to fit, do you need to release handbrake etc?
    • Answer: Hello. They don't come with instructions I'm afraid. It isn't a hard job for a competent mechanic and it would be wise to check the handbrake operation after fitting and adjust if necessary

    • How low will this drop the handbrake by, as in my conversion the seats are Ford Galaxy swivel seats.
    • Answer: Sorry we couldn't say. We don't have one fitted to measure I'm afraid.

    • Hi

When this is fitted does it move the position of the handbrake slightly towards the passenger seat?

Does the plastic handbrake cover need to be modified? If so how?

      Cheers
      Phil
    • Answer: Hello. Yes it shifts it sideways. As far as we know you don't have to modify the plastic cover.

    • Hi,

My hand brake is welded to the seat base. I'm going to get it cut off and lowered but do you think I will need to order a shorter hand brake cable?

      Thanks

      Todd
    • Answer: You would need to adjust the section of cable from the handbrake lever to the yoke.

    • Hi
You mention in an earlier post that it moves the handbrake slightly away from the drivers seat. I'm going to fit a double seat swivel to the passenger seat. Will there still be enough space for the double base to rotate?

    • Answer: It'll be very tight.
