Tuesday Nights Was Car Night (Now it's Wednesday Night) Back to Craig's profile

Sorry nothing to see here

Last nights progress was very rapid and I've taken the second shock tower of the beam in no time at all but it is boring to see the same sort of Photo again and again.

If you want to know what it looks like thake a look at the pictures below and just imagine both ends look the same.

I don't know if anyone reads this so here is my test, if you've read this post a comment and then I know if this is just for my benefit or if you are interested (Ta)

Some nights things just go against you...

The night was spent attacking the beam again but as Mickey was etch priming bits for his F100 panel truck so I couldn't go firing sparks around, so I had to do most of the work with my new cold chisels and a file (How did anything get done before the angle grinder was invented?!?).

Later on in the evening I got the grinder out (after the hard work was done) and tidied up the tubes:

I still have to get rid of the adjusters and swap them for the sway-a-ways  but this will be done once I have tacked on the end plates so I can keep everything neatly aligned.

Mickey was in a friendly mood and gave me and my brother a pair of embroidered overalls as a present, it might not sound much but when you are as tall and fat as us it takes some effort to find these:

Just to show how good these are here is a picture of the embroidery on them:

What a Diamond Geezer!

By 'eck I've got a featured Blog!

Well this is worrying as I'm now going to have to do some work  in the evenings to keep people entertained.

It doesn't get very exciting but yesterday I went to B&Q in seach of a new cold chisel and a flap wheel to open out the holes on my end plates for my narrowed beam. I got the chisel (2 actually) without a problem but nearly fell over when I saw that they wanted nearly £10 for a flapwheel!!!! I think I'll be putting in an order with Cromwells then.

I told you it doesn't get exciting

It's only cold when you stop moving

Went to the unit last night, in the snow (most of it's gone now). I turned up with a list of things to do. This was the start of the evening:

1st things 1st, I wrapped the car up and took my jacket off for some serious hammer use:

I started by hacking the endplates off the B/J beam that is going to be the basis for my narrowed beam.

Those POS adjusters are going in the bin to be replaced by a nce set of Sway-a-Ways. The picture below shows a quick mock up of the end plates I got laser cut (yes I know I messed up on one of the dimensions but I can rectify this)

You may notice that I have put the nearside endplate on the offside of the beam but this was just done as a quick trial assembly.

And for those who actually have nothing better to do than read my Blog you may be asking yourself, didn't he say he was going to be doing a new spare wheel trough this is the progress to date, but I looked at it last night and I think I will be starting all over again as I'm not impressed by what I've done so far.

Wednesday is the new Tuesday.

Well it looks like we are now changing things over to wednesday nights as more people are down at the unit then. I am thinking I will be working on a new higher profile spare wheel trough for the front of the ghia as the one in there hits the road when there are any bumps, this should allow me to lower the car more.

The problem with lowering the car is that I won't be able to get it off the 4 poster ramp. I guess I'll have to modify the ramp then.

I might also take my bike along as well and make some modifications to the frame to allow me to move the seat back and down a bit to get a bit more of a lowrider stance going.

I'm going to put the cover on the ghia as well, to wrap it up warm for the winter.

:Edit:

I'm not taking the bike over as I'm going to play with the narrowed beam end plates (correct my error in measurement)

Nothing exciting last night

Went down to the unit last night and did a grand total of nothing worth while, apart from move a few bits around so I can have some storage space. We ended up taking a scooter round to a friends to ease up some space then drank coffee watching Gok's new show (You've got have a bit of Gok in your life). Oh and we are thinking of moving car night to Wednesday nights.

Pub talk centred around Tommy Ivo's Life in Drag racing and building a short wheelbase Altered Dragster along the lines of 'Winged Express'

Isn't my life exciting

My Tuesday Night Car Play (Mainly my Ghia)

I go over to "The Unit" every Tuesday with my Brother Blair and until last week I would help him with his GMC Panel truck (the grey one in the photo below) until he annoyed me enough to go and help one of the other guys with their vehicles. Last week however I moved my Ghia off the drive at home over to the unit so I'm now investigating a few new developments
