JK Part Number: J12146 OEM Part Number: 43-7411-0
This dual Weber 34 ICT carb kit (twin port) for 1600cc VW engines 1968–1979 is supplied complete with manifolds, linkage and air filters. If you're looking to increase power, this is the ideal kit. It fits all twin port engines in Beetles and T2 Bays. Please note that these carbs have no facility for a choke/cold start system. We advise that aftermarket carbs such as these are set up on a rolling road. American West Coast manufacturer EMPI is a cornerstone of the VW aftermarket for parts and accessories. Closely involved with aircooled VW tuning parts in California since the 1950s, today they produce a huge range of performance and accessory parts for aircooled and watercooled VWs. Just Kampers have been importing and stocking EMPI for over a decade and are delighted to have built up a strong working relationship with them.

Fitting empi twin carbsNice set of carbs and manifolds etc, i had to file the manifolds holes slightly to fit over head studs fittings and really tight fitting around studs through carb bases so could not use a socket on nuts as not enough clearance, as for the instructions the picture was not the same set up as supplied so that was a bit confusing and needs to be improved urgently for the lesser experienced person, definately needs more pictures and clearer instructions. Now at the point of syncronizing the carbs and that too is a bit difficult to understand the instructions supplied, hopefully it will all be worthwhile though.

twin carb, buildup and fittingI'm just at the read the instructions stage and starting to fit.To start with EMPI assume that your bus is left hand drive so when describing which side you need to work on at any one time can be confusing. There is no way enough pictures, and an exploded diagram would be helpful for working out where all the dozens of bits go and which bits you may not need. For an EMPI product this next point is unforgivable-the manifolds quality of finish is poor at best and look like they've been hoiked out of the reject bin.ie:-the body of the manifolds are so close to the mounting holes to the cylinder head that a nut cannot be run down the thread of the stud as they foul the body. So, much tidying up and fettling with a file was needed. As for the rest? i may find out later today as i try to work it all out.
